Re: battle for vedros

Because parents paying for stuff for their kids is where the money is, and has been ever since the 1980s. That's why Disney bought Star Wars and Marvel for the merchandising, and that's why now GW is going to start aiming at kids. A kid asking (or screaming) for something is one of the most powerful...

Re: space marine dreadnaughts

Personally, I love it. Sure, I wish that Space Wolf Dreadnoughts would get the same treatment, but I have always been a fan of the Dreadnought in all its forms since entering the hobby. Now, they are more in line with Monstrous Creatures and can better work their way out of a tarpit of infantry, or ...

Re: Stripping paint from Finecast

Some of the early Finecast models that GW produced had many issues. These days, I haven't heard of nor seen as many issues with the resin quality. That said, I have stripped paint off them a couple times, each with Simple Green. And one of them did come out a bit rubbery, but I left it in there for ...

Re: Do you have your own custom space marine chapter?

Yes I do. My custom color scheme is dark orange-ish with brown and off-white trim, accented by greys, metallics, and blue power weapons. I also started with Space Wolves, so I also had a bunch of pelts and furs to paint as well. I also have some of my own fluff, notably Bergthor the Crusader, Captai...

Re: Chapter Colours - can you deviate ?

I found that by picking a custom color scheme for my Space Marine Chapter, I have free reign to try out the different Chapter Tactics from the Codices without worry. For instance, when Space Marines, I used my Space Wolf-themed tanks and infantry to play Iron Hands and White Scars to see which I lik...

Re: Back to the Hobby with a New Army

Of course. I was merely using you as an example. I kind of figured as much. At least, I hoped as much ;) I hope this helps counter the terrible reviews the Tau have gotten so far in this thread and helps you with your decision. Ultimately my decision is on hiatus until I finish up my school work an...

Re: Wolves of Etis

The problem is that the Space Wolves don't have any successor chapters. They tried, but they all devolved into mindless wolf like creatures. Those that survived were captured by the Thousand Sons and unleashed on the Space Wolves in parallel to the Battle of the Fang. Of course, you might still wan...

Re: Back to the Hobby with a New Army

Thunderwolf Cavalry? Just another boring deathstar army. I bet you ally them with some super psyker to get invisibility to make some OP, impossible to kill super unit that is so fricking boring to play against. Actually, I don't use Psykers. At all. I have a couple modelled and used them back in 5t...

Back to the Hobby with a New Army

Greetings! I have been on a long hiatus from 40K due to academics and trying out Warmachine/Hordes. But with my interest in Warmachine and Hordes fading, along with my schoolwork about to be finished in a few weeks, I figure now is the time to get back to 40K. For most of my 40K hobby I have been pl...

Re: can you steal the initiative in this edition ?

It's still in there. Bottom paragraph of page 132 in the big rulebook. The phrase in the book is "seize the initiative", which may be why you were having issues finding it.

It's been long enough since I played that I had to check to make sure myself!

Re: Need some help

Yeah, I need to get over 5th and 6th edition, it seems. I did find the line in the rulebook saying that you can take any number of detachments. It certainly takes some getting used to. Thanks again!

Re: Need some help

Thanks, that helps a bit. I understand Battle Forged and Unbound. I guess I should have worded my question "how can I take 2 Imperial Knights as Allies in a Battle Forged army?"

This gives me ideas. Thanks again!

Need some help

I've been out of the loop on wargaming for a while. Aside from getting a bunch of models painted, I've been too busy to be involved in the hobby for the past year or so. I am struggling with figuring out detachments for an upcoming tournament in the next few weeks. The army must be Battle Forged, no...

Re: Starting a Khador Army

Alrighty, I have got a few games in under my belt and am eager to expand my hobby into Privateer Press games. I've got a couple games in so far, and I've been winning most of them at noob-level. Heck, my first game my opponent set me up with a victory and coached me through a simple caster kill. So ...

Re: Starting a Khador Army

I've had that camera a year, and I'm still figuring it out ;) Update on the army, I have expanded further on my army. I have added in: - Man-O-War Demolition Corps - Winter Guard Infantry with Rocketeers - Great Bears of Gallowswood - Koldun Lord I'll be working on these models next, and will get pi...
