Re: What Has Everyone Else Been Playing Lately?

Currently deadbridge chant is only being used like staff of nin, as a one of in sideboards for midrange/control match ups where they just want a little extra card draw to pull through the late game. The comparison is getting a random card from a graveyard is a similar level to a random card from you...

Re: What Has Everyone Else Been Playing Lately?

I guess zombies works like legacy werewolves and merfolk, where you bring enough power to the board with a little bit of hate bears as legacy decks tend not to be ready for full blown creature battles. The new garruk can only cheat green creatures into play. So it does not combo well with angel of s...

Re: What Has Everyone Else Been Playing Lately?

Canyon Minotaurs strictly worse Rubblebelt Maaka. If you like cats. Also maaka is reasonable in modern and legacy, where 3 damage for 1 mana is ok. Then in standard it gives monored different lines of play. Vanilla creatures, or vanilla creatures with downside, need to be really cheap to be worth wh...

Re: What Has Everyone Else Been Playing Lately?

Before RtR the original shock lands were a steady $10. So after RtR there will be more shock lands on the planet and more people playing modern. Hoping these factors cancel out then the original shock lands can drop back down to probably slightly $10 with puts the new ones maybe slightly below it, t...

Re: What Has Everyone Else Been Playing Lately?

Voice does not see much play outside of standard. It seems doubtful that it will suddenly get readily embraced. Voice of Resurgence is also side boarded out a load and is obviously 2 colours. If standard is took over by 1 or 2 decks which happen to be non gw and voice happens to be bad against them ...

Re: Ral Zarek

The thing about the last abilities on just about all Planeswalkers that you'll find out is that you'll almost never get it off. This is really interesting. Each planeswalker is different but most in the current standard are able to ultimate in a good match up. So Domri rade and tamiyo are good for ...

Re: You on standard

Firstly, may I just say I do appreciate the difference between my opinions and facts. You could have asked me to back up what I say with concrete examples to prove what I mean. Secondly, you have cited an article which star city try to sell cards. It gave, as you say, five decks. One placed 15th in ...

Re: You on standard

Standard has no issues in deck diversity. There are tonne of different deck types. The latest protour was actually block not standard, it was won by a home brew that admittedly was similar to most GW token decks. The one before that was standard and won a home brew. Everyone now plays aristocrats bu...

Re: Ral Zarek

Domri rade is a better in a sideboard card. When it is good it is very good indeed.
I would try to trade for the red/green dual lands, they will make your deck play a lot better everytime.

Otherwise Ral Zarek could go up in price, you can just try waiting.

Re: Will Grim Return Work on Woldspine Wurm?

The wurm has a triggered ability. So the phase 'shuffle it into its owner's library.' just goes on the stack. So the tormod's crypt would go on the stack and resolve and remove the card from the game so the trigger will not happen. It analogous to an effect that says 'shuffle target card into its ow...

Re: Will Grim Return Work on Woldspine Wurm?

Worldspine Wurm has not entered the battlefield so no. If you somehow got the wurm onto the field but it died, then you could cast this instant. You could, for example, cast it to bring a strangleroot geist before the undying triggers. This is not a good card. It may combo we other things but that d...

Re: Let's Flip Coins! Deck List

How about fitting in the infinite life loss/gain combo with the guildmage. This makes the coin flip bear useful. I think Volatile Rig is probably strong enough to fit into an aggro/tempo build. Maybe some aggressive build using the coin flipping planeswalker, on the surface the complement each other...

Re: Dimir Ultra Mill

You should be looking for something like cremate. If you mill people who use their graveyard then you are likely to get burnt, in the case of harvest pyre literally. Psychic strike is really strong. Counter spells are really important, this one mills a little as well. For one making sure mind grind ...

Re: Power Flux - Red/Blue Casual Deck

20 lands is fine. He has mostly low drops and ponders+brainstorms act as lands. I love the mix of legacy staples with some more interesting choices. Cyclonic rift does muck up most nasty things, though surely red has better board wipes than looking towards blue. Aetherling is not a fun card. 6 mana ...

Re: Bolas of Steel - Junk Splash Red Reanimator

It certainly isn't a 21 land deck. You'll badly positioned against aggro, also control then midrange is going to get you purely on consistency. Maybe try a turbofog/omniscience back bone. Else maybe just a junk/4 colour reanimator back bone. This will give you the safety you need to pull the party t...
