Re: Still troubled by Dark Eldar?

Though to admit the dex it is written well with a lot of care and creativeness is a false statement. It just all goes with your attitude towards it all. I was bummed for a bit when it dropped, but I loved Nids and decided to just accept it and continue on with my beloved army. I was equally bummed ...

Re: Still troubled by Dark Eldar?

There's something else that another nid player I know has been trying out. He's been taking a flyrant and attaching it to a unit of tyrant guard for the first couple turns to absorb incoming fire, then separates it off from the unit when they get close enough and sends it off to do it's job. If eve...

Re: Anyone want to help the new guy?

1. Wash your model 2. Prime it in a ventilated area 3. Paint it 4. If you don't like it, Simple Green it 5. Rinse (literally) and repeat until satisfied [/b] just a heads up this painting guide is for metal models so if you are doing plastic i think you can skip steps 1,4, and 5 I thought some of t...

Re: Anyone want to help the new guy?

I think the best thing for you regardless of what kind of guide you start following (there are some really good ones made by members on the forums here) is to just practice on some basic models. If you find yourself some models, you'll also need some decent paintbrushes and paint. For paintbrushes, ...

Re: New Player- 1500ish Tyranid Swarm

I have to agree with Hedon when it comes to the Gargoyles. I find that at around 1500 points, 17-18 is minimum to survive the first couple turns.

Apocalypse experience, anyone?

Does anyone have any experience with the new Eldar in apocalypse so far? If so, do you have any suggestions? Here are a few quick points on the rundown. I'll add more info as I find out. I'm limited to 3k points It's a 5v5 match My teammates are Orks/Orks/Tyranids/Adeptus Mechanicus/Eldar (Me) My op...

Re: the minimum set up list

I dunno, I find them to be perfectly fine. While their base cost may be a point over what it should be the upgrades seem ok. If anything toxin sacs may be under costed, as their offensive capabilities skyrocket with a measly 2 point upgrade. Not telling Gw about that though! Shhh. We need a b...

Re: the minimum set up list

Yeah, Hormagaunts can be pretty devastating, but the problem is getting them into combat at a decent unit size. With no real save against most fire, that 160+ point unit is going to be hard pressed making itself useful when you have half a dozen models left in the critical stage. I mean, sometimes i...

Re: the minimum set up list

Gargoyles have been my MVP's so many times. In conjunction with some Trygon Primes for target priority and back field synapse once Tervigons can't keep up anymore, they've gotten way more than their points worth in kills alone. I really hope the new codex keeps them right where they're at.

Re: the minimum set up list

God, I love Spore Mines. It was more difficult for me to use them when I filled my Fast slots quickly, but they're incredibly useful in a lot of games for a small point investment.

Re: Parasite of mortrax, good or....

PoM is not exactly a go-to HQ choice. In fact, I would only ever suggest playing it for fun, because its special rules can be pretty hilarious when you're lucky enough with them. If you do run it, I would say that Gargoyles are best to use as a meatshield, and a unit of about 12-14 at 1000 points wi...

Re: The worst Tyranid unit and why

Rippers are the worst <period> I might be more inclined to agree if this were on units that we actually pay points for. In a couple games, I've had quite some fun running the Parasite, especially in an army that mostly Deep Strikes or Outflanks. A few lucky rolls and the rippers become an incredibl...

Re: upgrades on gaunts

I know it's been a couple weeks, but I haven't had the time to be on here lately. Anyway, I just have to say it's cost v. effectiveness. I'll run a Devilgaunt unit for about 235 points that comes in just about anywhere I want, definitely in range of any target I want and more than likely in the firi...
