This is invaluable, thanks for posting!

Wish they'd open a half-decent hobby supply store where I live...

Re: From start to finish: Plaster Building WIP (Pic Heavy)

Looking good, the lip really added a nice effect to the building. I'm tempted to look at Hirst Arts though I've been reluctant to cast anything due to having small children. It'd be best avoided then I think, since Hirst Arts makes some tiny parts, also depending on what you cast with the powdery a...

Re: From start to finish: Plaster Building WIP (Pic Heavy)

Steady progress update, here we go: Defined the square edges with more sand. And contemplating if that was a mistake. http://i424.photobucket.com/albums/pp323/seargentkong/20150809_114914.jpg Picked up this technique from an old MWG video; mix some sand into your paint and you can texture and baseco...

Re: From start to finish: Plaster Building WIP (Pic Heavy)

They're not cut, they're cast. Aaaah, I missed that part. Great job anyway. :) Thank you kindly~ it's been turning out to be a fun casual project. It's nice to not be rushed or on schedule so I can take my time to make sure everything is looking right. Keep going....I am a hirscharts fan too. I may...

Re: From start to finish: Plaster Building WIP (Pic Heavy)

Today over the scorching weekend, I took my project outside with the intention of adding some basing details and doing some final touch-ups before taking it into my room to give it the royal painting treatment. Since Dust Tactics is primarily a grid-based board game (a tabletop war game version exis...

Re: From start to finish: Plaster Building WIP (Pic Heavy)

...Let me apologize for playing necromancer and reviving this thread... Work, relationships and responsibilities came up, the project went into stasis for a while, but I have done much more work on the building: I cracked out the molds to produce more plaster bricks... Needed WAY more than I calcula...

Re: First Ork 40k, need improvement tips

I don't think it matters too much what kind of water you use, be it straight up tap water, or Himalayan mythical mountain spring waters protected and cultivated my ancient battle monks. There may be some slight differences but I couldn't tell from my experiments. As Mr. Guildenstern said, watering d...

Re: First Ork 40k, need improvement tips

The links work fine for me; got a look at your work so I'll drop my two cents. Looks pretty good so far, but it looks incomplete. The ork skin seemed to have been undercoated with a dark green and then painted on top with gretchin green (or some similar color). The trick to getting smooth-looking sk...

Re: Red9's DUST Project WIP <3 (Pic Heavy)

Eyyy thanks dude.
Yeah I'm very attracted to yellow armies since they really pop on the table. Besides Imperial Fists I have a themed Bad Moonz army too <3

Re: Red9's DUST Project WIP <3 (Pic Heavy)

Certain models stand taller and better proportioned than the standard 40k minis, but relatively they are the same scale. Models in Dust differ, like the Axis infantry seem to be true scale, while the USMC infantry looks closer to a heroic scale. Here they are side by side for reference. http://i424....

Re: From start to finish: Plaster Building WIP (Pic Heavy)

So for a couple days I've been popping out bricks, left over plaster was casted into other molds for later projects that might come in handy for accenting the building, like wooden beams and barrels and such. I've made about 150 bricks so far. http://i424.photobucket.com/albums/pp323/seargentkong/20...

Re: Red9's DUST Project WIP <3 (Pic Heavy)

Got hit with a category 3 typhoon here, which basically left the entire island I live on into the dark ages. So by dim window light I painted some more units from the Axis Army.

Re: From start to finish: Plaster Building WIP (Pic Heavy)

Starting off, I grabbed the dimension of the tile the building sits on, which is... strange to say the least. The face of a tile is about 3.66". I laid out some left over plaster bricks from a D&D terrain project from a while back to see if it would line up, and it fits like a glove somehow. Math is...

From start to finish: Plaster Building WIP (Pic Heavy)

So its not been too long since I opened my starter set of Dust Tactics by Fantasy Flight Games, and everything is good in the world. Except for one thing. http://i424.photobucket.com/albums/pp323/seargentkong/20150504_145023.jpg Do you see it? That's right, let alone but a couple tank traps and ammo...

Re: Dust Tactics Revised Edition WIP <3

Quick update: I order GF9's summer basing kit, and with it I was finally able to give the sturmpioneers the royal basing treatment they required http://i424.photobucket.com/albums/pp323/seargentkong/20150512_171824.jpg As of the moment I am magnetizing and prepping all the new models for painting.
