Re: EDIT (pics) - Night Goblin Warboss on Giant Squig

I did that and didn't like how the squig appeared - it was too boring being pretty much uniform color, so I went over the highlights with the lavender to give it some variation.

Re: Night Goblin Warboss on Giant Squig

Thanks for the advice, but this camera just isn't good enough to do high quality close-up photos. If I can secure access to a better one, I will take some more pics and update them all.

Re: Night Goblin Warboss on Giant Squig

It's a Polaroid a530. Even on macro, it's still really fuzzy. The manual says macro has a focus range starting at like 23.6" - hardly ideal for this. The curse of the cheap camera.

Re: Night Goblin Warboss on Giant Squig

Yeah, I know. I don't have an expensive, high quality camera, or even access to one. Sorry.

Re: Grimgor Ironhide

Thanks! Yeah, the armor is supposed to be "painted" red; the metallic drybrushing is to make it look like the armor is worn and the paint is rubbing off from excessive use.

Re: Fex

What'd you seal him with that he's so glossy? For a second I thought it was Armory matte sealer (which is glossier than like high gloss floor finish from Lowe's for some stupid reason).

I call it lazcannon, or DAKKADAKKA, or simply just death.

Re: Naming your units

I tend to name squads after WWII-era fighter groups for some reason. I just like the names. Flying Tigers and Black Aces, for example.

EDIT (pics) - Night Goblin Warboss on Giant Squig

NIGHT GOBLIN WARBOSS ON GIANT SQUIG I misread the contest rules and thought you could only submit one mini for each contest category (rather than as many minis as desired in a category). Duh. That being said, here's my other entry. I painted this using the same techniques as Ironhide - drybrushing ...

EDIT (pics) - Grimgor Ironhide

GRIMGOR IRONHIDE So, I realize that I probably don't have a smidgen of chance in this contest because I am neither a professional painter nor an expert hobbyist, but I figured I'd post this here in the name of fun! Ironhide was painted with Reaper and Citadel paints mixed, using basic techniques: s...
