Re: Riptides

I've bought from K & J Magnets a few years ago. Prices were great, product was awesome, huge selection. They even included a free sample package with a dozen odd-ball magnets. Based out of PA.

Re: necroney list 1850

Tomb blades are probably better with nebuloscope for ignores cover Depends on how you want to use them. I don't expect them to do much damage because I have them zooming around the board grabbing objectives, instead, sans particle-beamers. If you want to use them as back-field support, it would mak...

Denying Multiple Objectives

I just wanted to share a bit of rule shenanigans I came across recently. The rulebook says that: You cannot capture an objective if there is another scoring unit within 3” of it. Multiple objectives cannot be closer than 12”. A unit can only capture one objective at a time, even if it can reach more...

Re: new necron player, unit questions

I guess I'm not very fond of my HQ's. They're are usually between 130-175 points, Warscythe/Power Sword+Mindshackle+Sempiternal Weave+Res. Orb/Phase Shifter. I treat my Overlords as multi-wound Lords more often than not. With Semp. Weaves and a Power Sword for a chance to save AP4-3 wounds and be so...

Re: Ghost ark shooting

The trick I use for determining a 45º firing arc; measure X inches straight out from the weapon (0º) and mark the point, then measure the same distance from that point at a right angle (90º). If done correctly this will show the edge of a firing arc. I've also seen some handy arc-measuring templates...

Re: What to do with the old rulebook

There's still useful info in 6th ed. My buddy and I still use mysterious forests and rivers sometimes. There's also info on fortifications that isn't in 7th for those who still haven't picked up Stronghold or Escalation books. These are minor things, I'll admit, but sometimes I'll bring it to a frie...

Re: Battleforce set point values

Vault wrote:The Necron force is... somewhere just upwards of 1100 points iirc. If you build Gauss Immortals and a Doomsday Ark.
A Necron Battleforce contains 20 warriors, 6 scarabs, 5 Immortals/Deathmarks, and 1 Ghost Arc/Doomsday--It's somewhere between 550 and 620 points depending on options.

Re: I have awoken. What's New?

Lords are now part of the 'Royal Court', along with Crypteks, and function similar to Sergeants, really good Sergeants. There's a laundry-list of limitations and details that you'll want to familiarize yourself with. The Overlord is the new generic HQ, replacing the Lord from the old codex. It's sa...

Re: I have awoken. What's New?

Necrons got a new codex in 2010. If you haven't already gotten one, that's the first thing on the 'must have' list.

Re: Jink during an Overwatch?

A unit can only Overwatch against one unit, which is effectively selecting to target one unit.

Re: New player seeking advice on 1000 point army

I haven't used them in 7th yet. But the improved Jink, combined with stealth and Shadowlooms give them 2+ cover for about 30 pts each. This doesn't seem like a bad deal to me.

Re: New to necron

My main battle opponent has a significant IG army. It's sad, but I don't worry too much about his battle cannons anymore. As long as you carefully space out your models, even a direct hit will only take out a few troops. And they scatter off-target often enough to lessen the stress. They have a few ...

Re: New to necron

You're lacking in close combat, adding either a full unit of Wraiths or Scarabs would fit well here. Wraiths are great at taking down small units of elite fighters. Scarabs are a great distraction, tarpit unit and deadly if they reach any non-super heavy vehicle. An extra Annihilation Barge or two w...

Re: New to necron

I don't find Lych worth their points in most competitive games. However, if you're interested in making Lords and Crypteks, the kits have great bits (heh) for conversions. I can't recommend Wraiths enough. I would bypass the Lych and go for a couple boxes of them instead. They'll see more game time ...
