Re: Painting Sylvaneth Help

The "How to Paint Citadel Miniatures: Sylvaneth" guide has details on how to do it. The short version (going on the assumption that you don't have this little book) is the following: Undercoat: Corax White Base Coat: Dark Bark - Rhinox Hide Hair - Stegadon Scale Green Leaves, Eyes, and Glow - Caliba...

Re: Complete Newbie With Two Questions...

Welcome! As everyone said already, get the stuff for the most current edition (8th, which only came out a few weeks ago), because that's what everyone is going to be using now. In regards to actually getting your units together, I second what Koonitz said above me. Get a couple kits of the basic uni...

Re: Forum styling and theme

Thanks for all the hard work. I know how annoying to can be to fix up a style to make it look (and work) right. I'm just happy there's still a functional forum at all, even if it is just the default style. :)

Re: Spam on the Forum

If I may offer a suggestion, use custom profile fields for user registration to create some "anti bot" measures. If they can't register, they can't spam at all, and you don't have to go through the trouble of banning them either. I have a phpBB forum myself, and using those features, I have never ha...

Re: 8th Edition Tyranid Tactica

Had my first taste of 8th the other day. Brought an 84PL list consisting of: The Swarmlord Flyrant w/Stranglethorn Cannon Harpy w/2x Stranglethorn Cannons 15x Termies w/devourers 15x Hormies Trygon Prime (which I had do the cool tunnel thing it does and had the Hormies come up with it) Toxicrene Exo...

Re: Deathleapers "It's after me"

It sounds to me like both sides would have been deployed before that ability begins, so one wouldn't necessarily be declaring it (if at all) until it's too late to cover a particular targeted character. That is a good question, though, and one I didn't think of yet myself. I will have to ask around ...

Re: Aria's Weekly (or close to it) Paint Thread

Been kinda busy the past couple weeks and haven't been able to do much, but here's a little something I finished up this week so far. This is the start of my entry into the painting contest my local GW is hosting. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b390/AriaSilverfyre/Weekly%20Paint%202017/20170608_2...

Re: Painting scheme help - lapis lazuli

Have you also tried looking at the Citadel Gem Paints? The blue one might also work well for what you're trying to do. I find it can be a little tricky to work with, but once you get the hang of it, the results can be amazing.

Re: Aria's Weekly (or close to it) Paint Thread

Thanks to both of you. The paint theme is loosely based on my Hive Fleet, which I've decided are the ones that got that group of Cultist started in the first place. The mini-genestealer on the staff is the actual colors of the fleet. :)

Aria's Weekly (or close to it) Paint Thread

Might as well jump in on this myself and see what happens. I'll go ahead and start off with one I just finished up today after starting it earlier this week. Re: Noob needs advice

I agree with what the others have already said, go with what you like best. I also first started back in '01 with Tyranids. I settled on them mostly due to the fact that there was no specific painting theme they had to be done in and that left me free to do whatever I want, unlike doing something li...

Re: Anyone around Cinncinati

Games Workshop in Hyde Park. You'll find a great group of folks there in both 40k and Age of Sigmar (even some Blood Bowl and LotR as well). Sat and Sun are the busiest days, but Thurs and Fri tend to go well also. They are closed Mon and Tues, however.

Re: Hi everyone!

It seems humorous how common the "started 40k in early 2,000's and took a break around 5th Edition" story is. I, myself, started in 2,000, my first year of University, and took a break late 4th. Got back in on the tail-end of 5th, just before 6th was released, and just early enough to still claim t...
