Re: Guard Order Question

Assuming the "rules as written" aspect, the unit would be able to Move + Advance, recieve the Order at the start of the Shooting Phase, then would be able to fire its weapons (most weapons in the Astra Militarum lineup are Pistol, Rapid Fire or Heavy) as per normal. E.i. Pistol and Rapid Fire weapon...

Re: Imperial Knights codex review

The new Knight Codex seem awesome if you ask me. In my opinion the only thing I'm missing from it is a nod towards Imperial Knight Solaria from the Dawn of War 3 game. Having an Imperial Knight with two Avenger Gatling Cannons (and a Rocket Pod + a Master Crafted Heavy Stubber) would be awesome! But...

Re: Eldar Craftworlds 8ed codex review

I agree 100% with jwak on this one. If you just read the base entry for units you don't get the feeling of "powerful" for most Aeldari units. But once synergies between core rules, craftworld bonuses, relics, stratagems and psychic powers are factored in they really start to become a powerhouse army...

Re: Drop Pods by Turn 3?

Mach-Ten 1) Ok, thanks. So that means six drops total. A good thing to know :) 2) Yeah, [...over 9" away from enemy units...] rules do restrict Flamers/Heavy Flamers a bit but they are still pretty good for overwatch shots. With 15 Command Points at hand I see little reason not to upgrade the Captai...

Drop Pods by Turn 3?

Hey everyone. Been looking over the Space Marines (and Blood Angels) and been pondering the role of the Drop Pod in 8th Edtion after the 2018 Errata/FAQ (where you can't Deep Strike outside deployment zone turn 1). My ideas was to bring three Drop Pods in Turn 3. Each Drop Pod containing 2x 5-man Ta...

Re: thoughts on the Mawloc and how to use it

Well, the first thing to notice is that the Mawloc (unlike its Trygon/Trygon Prime counterparts) does not bring in another unit by its base rules. You would need to run Jormungandr Hive Fleet and spend Command Points to bring with you a unit. So just a headsup on that one. The second thing that need...

Re: Beta Primaris Marines Transport Rules

I agree with Arnathos on this. I think the Rhino, Razorback and Drop Pod should be limited to the regular sized marines, as this gives them the "cheap and tactical mobility" that they function around. It seems as though the Primaris Marines instead (in the lore) focus more on being the "frontline wa...

Re: Good tyranid strategyms

First off, it's Stratagems. not Stratagyms. As for which are good or not depends entirely on how you build your army. Do you run a Monster heavy army? Horde typed army? Or Combo between the two? Overall I'd say: From start to end page: Caustic Blood, Pathogenic Slime, Power of the Hive Mind, The Ene...

Re: What to do with superheavy units in Warhammer 8th edition

Well, although the Armiger is a way too new model in the game for me to give a verdict on, I'd point out the following: 1) The Armiger clocks in at a rather low cost for a LoW model. It is fair to say that two Armigers can make up (or cost less) then say a Knight Paladin. At that point you just have...

Re: Tau support systems

Hi everyone I picked up the Tau codex yesterday and as I haven't played them before I was wondering what your thoughts are on the support systems for different units. I also bought the christmas Tau force consisting of: 1 Coldstar commander 2 x 3 stealth suits 1 x 3 crisis suits 1 Ghostkeel Plus ac...

Re: Thoughts on the new Tau codex?

Yes. The Sun Shark can dish out a great deal of Mortal Wounds. True, but if we look at say. Alpha Legion or Raven Guard as examples of the -1 to hit armies, it is worth to mention that they only get that while being beyond 12". If you get in close, and use markerlights (other boosts) you can get aro...

Re: Thoughts on the new Tau codex?

I forgot to mention a few things that I feel we needed. 1) no reliable way to inflict mortal wounds. 2) no way to deal with psykers 3) I feel like battle suits should have been BS 3+ especially with all the negative hit modifiers.(an alternative could be a stacking +to hit modifier from markerlight...

Re: Thoughts on the new Tau codex?

The T'au Empire codex seem to be pretty ok. It may not be the top tier released codex to date, but it has its pros and cons just like all other codex'. In my view. here are the Pros: 1) Solid Stratagems. They add bonuses to themes that both benefit the T'au in game and follows the lore. 2) 3-4 good ...

Tau Septs are ok?

Looking over the benefits of the Tau Septs in the new Tau Codex and my though go as follows: Tau Sept, Vior'la Sept and Bork'an Sept appears to be good and seem to follow the theme of the Tau quite nicely. Farsight I'm not sure about but I guess having access to Farsight is it's own reward. However....

Should Primaris Intercessors have Special Weapons?

Looking over the Primaris Intercessors squad online over at GW's site and wondered for a moment if the Intercessors should have a similar upgrade option to the Tactical Squads. E.I. for each five models in the unit, one model may replace its Bolt Rifle with a Special Weapon. Like the following: 1) P...
