Re: Thoughts on my 30K in 40K Amry

One thing I forgot to mention this morning; Contemptors have the Helbrute keyword as per this this Forgeworld FAQ

When the codex comes out, this will mean they benefit from Legion traits!

Re: Thoughts on my 30K in 40K Amry

As for Battlescribe, its useful for just throwing together a list quickly and then you double-check rules etc. I find it to be a very useful tool for writing lists. It's much quicker to use it and then check whether the list is valid than to write the list from scratch. So long as you check it!

Re: Thoughts on my 30K in 40K Amry

I have the same army as you, basically- mine is based almost entirely off two boxes Betrayal at Calth with a few extra models I picked up from a friend (Rhinos, a Daemon Prince and Obliterators) and I'm adding an extra Contemptor and a Sorceror (BoP Ahriman) that I got unbuilt on eBay next. I have f...

Re: 8th Edition Codex Releases

There are no dates set, that is not Games Workshops MO. In fact they have been much more transparent than they were in previous years in outlining the order of the first four codexes to be released. Space Marines, Grey Knights, Chaos Space Marines and Death Guard. https://www.warhammer-community.com...

Re: New codex's incoming

Chaos are getting their cult units redone, but besides the basic marines and havocs what really needs updating is the character range. They have released new Ahriman and Kharn, as well as some great-looking Exalted Sorcerers of Tzeentch, and Cypher as part of the Gathering Storm box. But look at th...

Re: New codex's incoming

No, they said 10 codexes will be out by the end of the year, but there's a lot more factions than 10. I think there are at least 10 Imperium factions alone; depends on what is considered a faction and what is not. Have heard people say that the 10 releases will all be Imperium and Chaos with Xenos ...

Re: Contemptor Dreadnaught in Match Army

I'm taking 3 of these bad boys in my next list- they've been my star performers in 8th! Their superior BS and WS is great, and the move far enough that they can get into combat where they are beasts, very good against a lot of high-wound models on the charge. Often hitting and wounding on 2s. It hel...

Also they say that the Grey Knights codex is mere weeks away so that will be the second one to drop.

Re: New codex's incoming

I noticed this on the Warhammer Community website in an article talking about how Blood Angels and Space Wolves players can use the new Primaris units; The rules for those new Space Marines Primaris units will all be in the box sets themselves, and matched play points will be published for free on t...

Rhinos are the real MVPs of this edition Koonitz. They just don't die!

Re: Chapter tactics - initial thoughts?

I personaly won't chace command point, it's usefull, but looking for 6 troops no thanks. I think that at 2000 pt for marine the standard is 7commande points. A batallion, and other specific for 1 command, and the 3 from battel forged. I think if your list and play-style match the stratagem they can...

Re: Chapter tactics - initial thoughts?

I now have played two games in which I had more then 6 command points (9 to be exact). In both games I never used them all, the reason could be that my shooting and psychic was amazing, but that is not entirely true. It is more that you can only use one per phase and in some phases I don't need to ...

Ah I see. You expect to fight a lot of horde armies? It makes more sense in that situation.
It seems like horde armies are doing well in general, but yes.

Re: Chapter tactics - initial thoughts?

The Salamanders one is pretty good I think. Combat squads of tactical marines now get rerolls to hit and wound on their lascannon/meltagun/plasma etc. White Scars, Raven Guard and Ultramarines are the best but they are all pretty fluffy and pretty solid.
