The Sea! What good games are there?

A much smaller scale than the typical 28mm-32mm game on most of these discussions, the sea calls for battles and so forth to be played thereon. There are a lot of games just recently with the steam-punk theme in mind, but few seem to have caught on the way Dystopian Wars has. Still I have not played...

Re: what game are you playing right now.

I have just started collecting/playing Heroscape (and tho it is fun, I am going to stand where I am in the collection part) and it is rather some fun. Also working on a space combat game based on bits and pieces of all my favorites, but mostly using the Armor Grid rules.

Here's a brief look at what I have.

I believe that with the possible exception of a few squads of common troops, I have quite enough of a collection, even to play battletech on the terrain.

As a guy drawn to skirmish level games, I really appreciate this topic and particularly nagi21's comments above.

Re: Does Heroscape count as a miniwargame?

Another game in and all of my terrain on the table. Not nearly as spiff looking as an Infinity map, but not too bad. A very tiring assembly process for the field I built, but it did all eventually come together. As to the game itself, fun for a while, but fighting against a 10 year old and a six yea...

Re: Does Heroscape count as a miniwargame?

Just got my first games in! The first was the first scenario of the SotM book, only we used the Master rules instead of fiddling with the basic rules. I played the Sgt, Shiori and Sonlen, my 6 year old girl played Raylin, and my 10 year old boy took the Marro. It did not take too long to table the b...

Re: Does Heroscape count as a miniwargame?

Well, I am stoked. I got a whole lot of Heroscape for Christmas, and I have plans to get more. I have not yet played so far, as the time between family gatherings has not been enough and the kids are busy with all their other toys, but it will be pretty cool, I reckon. I have the complete Marvell an...

Re: Does Heroscape count as a miniwargame?

It looks like there is plenty out there, and a good community of fans still keeping it alive, so I am hopeful.

Re: Does Heroscape count as a miniwargame?

Here's a cool thing. I was talking about getting into it, and a friend turned out to have a bunch of it that he was no longer using, so he sold me all his stuff for a very generous price.

Does Heroscape count as a miniwargame?

I have been looking around for a new game, and I think I may have found it. It looks like a miniature wargame, but does the existence of the hex grid change it to a board game? Does discussion belong here or elsewhere? Anyway, my least favorite parts of games are getting more than a single figure pa...

Only now beginning my MonPoc Journey.

Believe it or not, I think it is actually a pretty good time to start in on Monsterpocalypse. Stocks are beginning to get low at the major online sellers, but I was still able to get a two player starter set for a reasonable price. There are still a few active online support groups for the game, lik...

Re: New Edition New Intro set?

I would think that they would choose the most iconic GW armies to represent, so either SM or Chaos would be shoo-ins. For the other side, I would suppose a tyranid force would be great, but perhaps not well rounded enough to teach the basic game, so something wide based enough to oppose the marines,...

New Edition New Intro set?

So I hear buzz about a 6th edition of the rules coming for 40k. Is that going to mean they will be making a new intro set to replace Black Reach?
