Re: The MiniWarGaming Forum is Shutting Down

Not surprising, to be honest. I've noticed a dramatic drop in activity in the past few months.

What resources can you recommend for new players? This thread was three months old. Please be mindful of the forum rules on thread necromancy (which restricts based on age, to 3 weeks). Re: Warhammer 8th edition anniversary

An advertisement for Warzone40k mats. ;) so, at what point do posts [..] become spam or counter to this forums rules? This ^ When their sole goal is to advertise for another entity or website. Warzone40k used to include a link to their own webpage at the end of every article, asking people to click...

Re: AoS 2nd Edition: LOS is not 360?

I do enjoy a good Devil's Advocate argument. Anywho, I see a flaw in your explanation. You said: Thus, without any further identifiers to adjust your definition of "behind", the facing of the model is irrelevant. However, there is another identifier. The model has a face, as in the literal face (wit...

Re: AoS 2nd Edition: LOS is not 360?

The "look from behind" has been wording used pretty much any time GW references that method of determining line of sight, for both AoS and 40k. It is not a determiner for whether a model has a field of vision or not. It is done only in context with GW's use of "true" line of sight in their games. Wh...

Re: Koonitz's weekly paint 2018

After the Tzeentch Herald, I didn't do too much for painting last week. Though I did pick up some more blue/brimstones on the weekend, which I finished on Tuesday. https://i.imgur.com/89Oq7qC.jpg This was important, because on Wednesday, I somehow'd a Knight or two (or 8 ). https://i.imgur.com/qRAOU...

Re: New Edition fear

Baneblade variants are one of the top 5 units in the game. Care to provide a source on that one? I have never seen a Baneblade reach the top tables of the major tournaments I've read about. They're big, they go bewm a lot, but, as was said, they die very, very easily. When the measure of a competit...

Re: New Edition fear

I agree with whoever said that 40K was devolving in places, into a numbers game that you could just math hammer out the result and not actually play the game and the "kids these days" are missing out on the deep lore and stuff. but I think there's room for all kinds in the current edition, especial...

Re: So how did your last game go, 8TH EDITION! (Or other games, of course!)

GLORY! HONOUR! RIGHTEOUS COMBAT! All was had at the joust, this day! In celebration of the release of the new Knight codex and new chassis, I decided to hold a joust. Effectively a free-for-all for Knight pilots to engage in honourable (or dishonourable) combat. Each attendee was allowed to sponsor ...

Re: Imperial Knights codex review

The new Knight Codex seem awesome if you ask me. In my opinion the only thing I'm missing from it is a nod towards Imperial Knight Solaria from the Dawn of War 3 game. Having an Imperial Knight with two Avenger Gatling Cannons (and a Rocket Pod + a Master Crafted Heavy Stubber) would be awesome! Bu...

Re: marker lights

Thanks for the help, everyone. I'm pretty new to 8th so I'm still getting a handle on the nitty gritty of the rules. To expand, to help your knowledge, note that you can never get a result less than 1 when rolling to hit (per the rules), but you CAN get a result higher than 6. Thus, other effects t...

Re: Imperial Knights codex review

Other than the Valiant, which is specifically designed as a close quarters support Knight, all other Knights are easily dealt with on the charge if you suitably swamp them. Remember that their invulnerable save is ONLY against shooting. Hit them in close with multiple monsters that do 3+ or d6 damag...

Personally, I love 1750 as it adds more than it takes away.
On the other hand, 30k tends to encourage the exact opposite. 2,500 points is pretty common. Then again, a Spartan with flare shield + Primarch + 10-man specialist terminator squad tends to be bloody expensive for 12 models....

Re: New Edition fear

Some reviewers do go through the art and lore, but yeah for the most part it's all crunch. (I do love how Warzone40k never posts back. I'm pretty sure he just mass drops the review on multiple sites). They are a seller of 40K stuff like vinyl mats etc., I get the impression they post "reviews" in o...
