Re: what can harm plastic... paint wise

For the most part, most paints will work, just avoid paints that have acetone in it, or stripping with acetone based items if you are stripping minis, as they can and will melt minis.

Pine Sol also can mess up minis as well, if left soaking too long in it.

Re: My first Chaplain, in termi armour. please rate. critizise.

The silver parts look to be too clean, especially under the right arm with the tubing. I would suggest a wash over the metal with either devlan mud or badab black, depending on if you want a 'well used' look or a 'clean' look. I am partial to Devlan mud for marine metals since things are handed down...

Re: How to make my Leaders stand out?

When in doubt, bling it out.

Add gold either completely, or around the edges of the shoulderpads, on the destroyer body, do some gold designs there.

Re: Colour scheme question

Looking at your question, the first thing that came to mind was Cadians with cream (bleached bone) armor and zebra striped cloth. Reason being, when zebras are moving in a herd, the collective pattern of the stripes makes it very hard for a predator to pick out an individual target. http://animals.h...

Re: Personal challenge: Speed Painting guard.

The men, about to dive into the breach! (I am not using the stain on the snipers, I am going to use devlan mud for them so I have nice smooth camo cloaks) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/norsehawk/IMG_2232.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/norsehawk/IMG_2229.jpg The forces of the Imp...

Re: Personal challenge: Speed Painting guard.

no picture update, but here is a written one.
7 models still with just primer on them
10 models that still need metallics, grenades/canteens and skin done
37 ready for dipping.

Got a paper to write for one of my classes this weekend, but hopefully that won't take too long.

Re: Personal challenge: Speed Painting guard.

Yesterday's progress... none. Ended up leaving for college at 7:30 am in the morning, and after working on some papers and arranging my schedule of classes for summer/fall, I didn't get home until past 10:00pm at night and was too bushed to pick up a brush or even watch tv. Hopefully tonight I can m...

Planning to paint on the dip, but then paint highlights to make them look better. I could use Devlan mud, but I don't want to go through several bottles of the stuff.

Re: Personal challenge: Speed Painting guard.

Some photos of the arrayed forces. Not going for ultimate speed here, but I am to have them finished before my next commission job arrives 54 models in this batch, doing basecoats in batches, all based, all primed, basecoats started: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/norsehawk/IMG_2228.jpg http...

Personal challenge: Speed Painting guard.

I am currently prepping a bunch of guardsmen for a speed painting session, I am looking to do as many as i can get prepared before the weekend is over and start painting on Monday. So far, I have 35+ Cadians assembled, sand on the base, and ready for priming. Not sure on the time frame to get them d...

Re: Painting wolf pelts (need help)

Bleached bone base.
1 slightly thinned overall coat of devlan mud to pick out the basic details, then thicker coats to provide the variation of the pelt on the body of the wolf.

Re: Recommendations for Colors?

I tried searching through the forums prior to posting this and have been unable to find anything that I was really looking for. My Skaven color scheme is primarily completely set. However, I am having an issue on how I wish to do their tails. Searching online I have only been able to find overly co...

Re: Painting White Helms for GKs/SM Vets

I dunno, I don't mean to tell you how to paint your models, I just think personally that there is never a reason to prime and basecoat black. True, these are all personal preferences. If they lead to awesome models with sweet color schemes, then it is not an issue. But as is, you have my advice for...
