Re: Tiger tanks

The rule that restricts firing the same turn you move is called Awkward Layout. The Tiger does not have this rule. It does have Wide Tracks which allows it to have a 50% of avoiding a bog if it bogs down in rough terrain. There is also a one-man-turret rule in Early War that the French Tanks have to...

Re: Thoughts on the new Market Garden/ Bridge by Bridge book

The Canadian list is one of the nicer ones in the new books. The books overall are quality as always. I've never been overly interested in this part of the war but have tried different lists from both sides of the canals. I really like the new figure packs they are coming out with for the heroes fro...

Re: New into St.Catharines & plays waffen ss

Hi Phil,

I live in Beamsville but play in Burlington where I work. There are regular games in Burlington on Thursday nights and tournaments every two months.

Re: Anyother FoW players still on this forum?

I heard there were some guys at the store getting into the game. I play with a group in Burlington but live in Beamsville so if anyone wanted me to come around to help them with the game just send me a PM. I'm registered with the Ranger program at Battlefront so formal requests through them would fi...

Re: Getting started

Finns now have a late war list; however, for just getting started you really should choose US over Finns. They have many more options, use most of the same equipment across MW and LW and Armoured Rifles provide you with a force that can give a good fight against any force instead of being more speci...

Re: Starting Pazner Grenadiers

I have seen people start the game with Panzer Grens and be very happy with their armies. The Halftracks are fun but are not as effective in a Company level game as you think they will be. They are great for moving your troops but the number of times you get to drive them up to the enemy are few. Mos...

Re: Some help on my upcoming first game please...

You should have no trouble making a 1500 point Strelkovy platoon with that. I would suggest Guards so you are a little tougher. I played Russians before the new books came out so I am not 100% on the best options out of the newer late war books but starting with the Udarny and adding the tanks is go...

Re: Learning the rules

I came to Flames of War from Fantasy and found the only part I struggled with, after playing the game a few times, was assaults. I like the simplicity of skills being 3,4,5 and moral 2,3,4. Those numbers cover much of what you need. You get to know the common anti-tank values and armour of your oppo...

Re: Different types of armies

What I didn't do there that I am doing now, since I don't have an airbrush yet, is to go back over with a middlestone drybrushing after, before doing the weathering. I really softens the camo. My Panthers are drying. I'll get some pictures up today. EDIT: Here they are with the Bocage I made for the...

Re: Different types of armies

I would like to say I took gauze, soaked it in tea, added some crushed leaves, gentry dry brushed in some greens. I would like to say that. I bought them off of a vendor in Germany who sells on eBay. The cost of getting the netting you see there was about $8. Worth every penny. I'm doing some Panthe...

Re: Different types of armies

Our group plays at a Hobby Store in Burlington and some of us are looking to come by in September to help show the game in a tournament at MWG HQ in Welland. MWG started stocking the product recently so until people start playing it it will take some time. I think you will find the pictures at the F...

Re: Which came first ... the book or the army?

Airborne is easy, get the box. That gives you a great start on a complete force.

For germans you need to decide if you are going armour company or infantry. Your infantry platoons will be smaller then the yanks but you will have better support options.

The sappers are really neat. There is nothing wrong with them. I've seen them used to good effect.

Re: Soviet armies

I find Strelkovy has the ability to take on tanks and infantry fairly well. Tankovy can get into trouble against heavy tanks or a gun wall.

You play with teams. A team can be a single tank, a gun and crew or 2-5 figures on a stand.

Teams function in platoons.
