The Fear
Connor fell behind the sand bags, hoping for some sort of protection from the green bolts flying over head. His friend Eli jumped next to him
“This is the definition of hell; I mean who sends four thousand Imperial guard to fight an enemy that get back up again once you kill them? I mean its Idiotic!”
Yelled Eli
“A Commissar”
Replied Connor
“Well we’d better start moving unless we want Codrose on our case”
Connor ran towards the sandbag diagonally ahead of him and ducked. Just as he sat down he heard a terrible whining. He felt as if it was going to the core of his brain, making all his primitive senses go haywire.
“RUN!!IT’S THE DOOM SYTHES!!!”
Then he saw a familiar face in the mist.
“Jimmy! I thought you were Dea...”
Then Connor saw the holes in his friends face, the white in his eyes and how the back of his head was still open from when the ‘Shredders’ as the men called them sliced of part of his head.
“Why are you here?!”
Screamed a voice but then Connor realised it was his. Then Jimmy faded away into the mist. Connor looked around and gasped when he saw Eli. He was lying on the ground, writhing with pain and his hands on his face.
“Eli?”
Eli didn’t answer
“Eli?”
Connor asked again. The Connor saw why Eli was in such pain. Where his eyes should have been, where to black holes, with blood pouring out
“Please! Make it stop!”
Connor reluctantly took his lasgun from around his back and shot his oldest friend. Connor turned around and started running to the green flares in the fog. He saw shapes in the distance, thin shaped like skeletons but with glowing green eyes. Then he heard the chattering. It was distant at first but then it got louder. Connor saw a soldier running towards him screaming
“They’re coming! Get out of here!”
Connor saw the man stumble on the ground and then Connor saw what he was talking about. Swarming over the man was tiny beetle like shapes. The man was screaming in agony as the bugs burrowed under his skin. Connor took a few seconds before he realised the screams had stopped. Connor looked at the body and realised the bugs weren’t there. The chattering begun again, this time closer than ever. Connor saw the shapes coming towards him then he started running. He ran faster than he ever had, he pumped his legs to the limit, every second thinking about the bugs getting him, until finally he stopped. He hid behind a destroyed Leman Russ. Then he felt something start biting his leg.
