wargamer010 (12 weeks ago):
Just in the time I started painting mine Command Barge
Zipding (12 weeks ago):
Will this same technique work on an orb-like object?
Epic-Duck-Studios (12 weeks ago):
@JuniperJack: The technique is the same for smaller areas, you just need to be a little more careful about the amount of spacing you leave between the dark spots. Pretty much just take the technique and scale the whole thing down. I've painted Scarabs using it.

@XarfaiEngel: It's not quite done yet, but I'll show it off when I get a chance!

@immrsam: The basecoat is Reaper Shadowed Steel airbrushed over Army Painter Black Primer

@DeltaCommando17: I haven't done much in the way of Ice yet, but I think there were some spare Ogre clubs in the MWG bits box. If I can nab a few, I'll see what I can do for you

Man, that is a AWESOME effect!
By the way, can you do a tutorial sometime on how to paint ice. Because I'm maybe going to start Ogre Kingdoms in the next few months and I was thinking of doing a Arctic Tundra theme with them. So I was planning with their weapons that have the rock in it, I was going to paint it to be Ice instead. Although I'm not sure how I would paint that

Good to see you back!
Very good looking technique, but i do have two questions: Do you leave the deeper ares of the modell black? And could you please post some pictures of it finished? Thanks! btw: you have a nice dog! And the camera is fine just like that! Greetz XE

Would this technique be used for small area lightning effects or will there be a video for that as well?

Thank you so much for making this vid Mike, I can't wait for the new Chaos dex so I can use this technique on my Night Lords! I should be a pro at it by then, because I think this technique will also fit with my Dark Eldar. I'm AMPED to get painting right now!
theninjanid (3 months ago):

@Cow: I actually came up with this technique by accident - I was trying to come up with a quick way to paint a sandstone type texture (using shades of beige), and when I was done, I thought it looked a lot like lightning, so I tried it with these colours instead... and bingo!
Epic-Duck-Studios (3 months ago):
@Just about everyone
I'm glad to be back! It took me a while to really get back into the swing of this, and decide how I *wanted* to make these new videos. I'm happy it's being so well received!

Epic-Duck-Studios (3 months ago):
@destuctir: For red lightning, I'd probably go with a base of Mechrite Red, then Mechrite/Black mixed for the dark spots. Blazing Orange, and then Skull White for the lightning, followed by a Baal Red wash to finish it off. I'd suggest testing this on a piece of sprue or a spare bit or something first before you paint a model with it

@AtlantisGamingGroup: Yea, my "painting room" in my home is kind of a temporary setup right now. When I'm done my Rec Room renovations, it'll be mounted over my right shoulder instead.
Epic-Duck-Studios (3 months ago):
@genestealer104: I think you'd want to more or less reverse this to do Lava, and have the larger spots be brighter with darker lines between them. I'll keep Lava in mind when I'm planning new videos.
