Doesn't the whole ally thing completely negate the need for kroot as a tau player? Just bring ork boys which are more awesomer and serve the same exact purpose...

XV8's can only have 3 weapon systems...shas'o included
Nathemo (8 months ago): - delete
@_edge_: thats what i meant, just worded it incredibly badly
_edge_ (8 months ago): - delete
@Nathemo: No, the requirements for special weapons in tactical squads are full strength squads, you can take one special weapon and one heavy weapon at ten men. Dan only mentions one heavy and one special but, with the amount of proxy models its hard to tell what what.

@BlankBulleta5: As a Crimson Fist player Kantor is easily worth his points solely for the reason he makes sterngaurd scoring units. A chapter master with storm bolter and Powerfist is about 20pts less, for those 20pts you get stubborn, inspiring presence, hold the line and a storm bolter upgrade. He takes a bit more nous to be effective with than some other characters and you have to run a list that plays to his strong points.
The fact is he isn't Calgar or Grimnar and you can't put him in their type of situations and expect to get away with it. Crimson Fists are a scalpel, Smurfs and Puppies are a big stick; Chapter masters are the embodiment of their chapter.

@witchhenter10: You still get 3+ in combat you just cannot get 1 attacks but, I agree 15pts for 1 invul is a waste. The Fluff part of relic blades being two handed translates into no extra attack on the rules side.
Nathemo (8 months ago): - delete
@R4384: depends what you mean by 'special'. A ten man squad can take a plasma and then a plasma cannon if they wanted as they are allowed to. The requirement is set in groups of 5. So for example a squad of 5 can take one 'special' weapon, then an additional 5 may add another one to the squad.
However your not allowed to take say 2 plasma cannons as you require a full 10 man for one. Have a look at a space marine dex.
Shadowbreed (8 months ago): - delete
@orkyourk that's not true, the rulebook merely states each section must be in base contact with 1 other section. So as long as each placement has 2 sections you can break it up as much as you want.
Suneki (8 months ago): - delete
@orkyourk: RAW they can, the rule say they have to touch at least one other piece, groups of two fulfill that requirement.

How can a 10 man tactical squad have 2 special weapons in them???
orkyourk (8 months ago): - delete
agis all must be tuching eachother you cant brake apart and make 2
Transgressor (8 months ago): - delete
At about 3:40 you mention you can only place fortifications in your deployment zone, but the book says you can put them in your table half (p120).

Like said before, stick with elite suits till you run out of space as opposed to using bodyguards. Also use the 'El as opposed to the 'O to save points.

I play Tau to, some ideas: give broadside multi tracker so they can fire all weaponds, and get some sniper drones, and i'm prety sure that the phatfinder need to be in unit with devil fish.

@Prozac112: From Orangeville no less!
drakiskier (8 months ago): - delete
sweet! Tau! i play them as well as tyranids.

I do have a recommendation for the next time you make a list though Dan, use BOTH HQ slots for crisis suits and bodyguard before you start using elites. the extra stats can be pretty useful, and then allows you to use more stealth suits.

one blacksun filter makes the whole squad ignore night fighting! Tau FAQ states BSF gives night vision. page 40 of BRB says a unit with at least one model with [night vision] ignores effects of night fighting.
