First large miniature I've painted, I also painted him without using a guide or looking at pictures for reference and let me tell you it was a lot more fun discovering him and seeing him come to life through the painting processes. I missed a few mold lines on the mini too, i did'nt realise how much i missed until i was well into painting.
Colors used:
Undercoated with Black spray.
Skin was painted Adeptus BattleGrey, dry brushed with Codex Grey, dry brushed again using Fortress Grey, the a light dry brush of skull white. Badab Black wash was used all over his skin to define the shadows. His belly was painted using Dwarf Flesh in ligt layers, working from his belly and chest outwards to the sides in thin layers so it would blend a little with his grey hide, it was then dry brushed with Bleached Bone. The metal is Boltgun mental, lightly dry brushed with bestial brown, then a wash of Badab Black followed by a very light dry brushing of boltgun metal again. The eyes where painted blue, Ice blue i think. His cloth is Scorched Brown dry brushed with Bleached Bone.
I went back over all the darker areas of the model with Badab Black again to make it darker and added a few layers of Delvan Mud to his feet to make them dirty looking. Its easy just to slap a wash all over the mini, but if you take the time just to paint it in the folds and where the dark areas are it will pay off by not dulling your mid tones and highlights.
