what if I said that i had no type of citadel paint (except the boltgun metal) and only crayola acrylic basics like red, yellow, blue, brown, black and white????????

Also I would recommend watching my vlog tomorrow where I will be continuing a paint job on my Revenant, talk about time, just the base coat took me several hours >

Even a golden daemon winner has to start somewhere. Ignore the harsh comments, focus on the constructive criticism. By being a member on here you get a free pdf, "how to" on painting faces, armor, cloaks, etc.

Would make a decent blood angel character if that is what you were going for. Also, if you want to cheat you could get a can of army painter colored primer...so all you would have to do is paint the details.

@Mrfiremagnet: Just being friendly and not telling what you really think is not helping Hammerhead, i totally agree with you. I like your second post because it shows Hammerhead where he can improve.

Oh, forgot to say, the terrain piece does look nice.
Johnnyallstar (9 months ago):
Looks good for just starting, but there's a few things you should look to. First, always make sure that the paint covers the area evenly. Notice the red has little spots of black primer showing? To get good coverage you usually need multiple coats of paint. I just did a group of chaos where everyone had at least 3 coats of red paint on their gear because I wanted it to be even.

Washes would help a little, "liquid talent" is a funny nickname, but it's kinda true, but they won't help everything. The 5 o'clock shadow looks okay, but next time try stippling it on instead of brushing, it will make it look more natural.

Lastly, don't be afraid to go back and fix things. Take your time, there are 2 Ps in painting... Patience and Practice. I just did my chaos magister, and I think I fixed one area half a dozen times.

Keep it up, though, practice, and have patience with your work!

@ektar: Maybe you are right that I should be more friendly. But I really don't think that just applying washes would be enough.
@halfast: Alrighty then, let's do it constructive.
Absolutely flat colors without any shading and highlighting, zero accuracy, roughness, roughness everywhere. Layer of the red paint haven't even covered the surfaces properly, I still can see bits and pieces of the black basecoat under is.
Guy really needs to get some How to Paint Citadel Miniatures, visit GW and read some guides and articles site, find some tutorials online or whatever.
Anyway, I hope he'll improve his skill. Practice, practise, practice, my very first dudesmen looked pretty much the same.

love the terrain piece
halfast (9 months ago):
Try to use some washes. You'd get a lot of dept that way.
@MrFiremagnet: That is not constructive feedback.
ektar (9 months ago):
@MrFiremagnet: Why would you say something like that? All he needs are some washes and with positive reinforcement he will improve.
MrFiremagnet (9 months ago):
Horrible.
