Hey Matt, I don't know if you're going to get to this comment by the time you do your next sit and talk, but the concept of a dark potential roleplaying game really inspired me, and I think I have some information you might find useful.

There is a roleplaying game that I play, it's called Eclipse Phase. It's an awesome system thats pretty basic to pick up and play but can be very tactical and in depth.

One of the biggest strengths of the Eclipse phase system I've discovered is it's versatility. The book itself comes with an awesome universe and backstory that explores a lot about aspects of humanity and what it means to be human, but the stats and skills and gear can be applied in many various ways.

For one, in the game bodies are treated like just more pieces of equipment, there are stats for dozens of different types of bodies, called morphs. One thing that I've found is that when using the system and creating a different setting instead of having bodies be switchable, had different bodies represent different races, allowing for different stat-bonuses and such.

I've run many different systems using eclipse phase as a starting point, It took very little effort into using it to run a Mass effect roleplaying adventure. I even used it to make a warhammer 40k RPG as I wasn't a fan of some aspects of the already published warhammer 40,000 role playing games.

The game itself is open game license content and the publisher puts the PDF's online for free, even though you could pay for them if you wanted to. It's very easy to write up a few documents detailing the house rule modification to change the eclipse phase rules into something else, it really is a very malleable system and I think that if you wanted to play a dark potential RPG but you didn't want to work on developing your own whole rules set for it this could be an awesome way to get a few dark potential games in.

I may even write up a document myself to use EP to run dark potential roleplaying. Hit me up with a message if you want to collaborate on this. And, if I do end up getting a system all lined up I think I'll probably post it on the forums for everyone else to play. If anyone is interested send me a message.

Hi Matt. Have you guys looked into Dropzone Commander at all? The models look fantastic and it seems like a really interesting game. I'm assuming you'll be reading this after Valhalla so you probably will have met David Lewis, the creator of it, who is meant to be there.

I'm also going to be getting into Dark Potential next year. My local gaming club is based at Worthy Painting's new UK store, and they're very receptive to new games so I'm hoping to get people there hooked (kind of fitting given they're painting the box art models). When do you think you'll have Dark Potential available to buy in shops?

Hey Matt, loved the anniversary batrep... Easily one of the best batreps to date. Will there be any future batreps with custom scenarios in the future? And if I may suggest: As a continuation to the Warhammer 40k history series, (which are how I found you guys in the first place when I was looking to pick my first army (I picked orks!)) you could make scenarios using some of the fluff found in any codex. I've read about 5 of them so far and each one seems to have a few pages detailing legendary battles for special characters or the army in general. I know you aren't the biggest fan of 40k fluff but I myself am a sucker for awesome story telling and recreating certain events would bring them to life!
To give an example (that Dave would probably love): In Codex: Blood Angels on page 17. 992.M41 third paragraph, Mephiston defends the ruined entrance of a filtration plant for 6 hours against a massive tyranid onslaught. Batrep could be 6 turns, each hour a new unit arrives and Mephiston is to defend the plant. Mephiston is so OP he could probly do it too lol.
Love the videos, keep up the good work!

Hi Matt,

Saw some of the stuff you did down at Valhalla, looked awesome!

I was wondering if you spent a lot of time talking to Dave from Hawk Wargames. You've got a lot in common after all, both being guys with a lot of industry experience starting your own games and game companies. Were you able to learn a lot from his experience, compare notes, etc?

Also, what did you think of Dropzone Commander?

May I ask where all the hate for Tau comes from? Is is just because they look better then other xenos, maybe that even with an old codex they can still win, or is there just poor representation for the Greater Good in Canada.

Dear MWG Matt,
With regards to dark potential, would you rather have commercial success by selling a lot of models and being very popular, or have a smaller but highly dedicated fanbase and become a kind of cult classic? Also, how has Dark Potential been selling? Has it been doing well or as you have expected?

Hi Matt,

Thank you to you and all the guys for all the hard work you all do in creating content. I have been a Vault Member for around 4 months and I watch Miniwargaming videos nearly every night after a long day of work. They always help me to unwind and I particularly enjoyed the MWG Anniversary Batrep, very interesting and hilarious.

Big thumbs up for all the recent Warhammer Fantasy Batreps. Keep them coming

I live in Bunbury, Western Australia and my dream is one day to be able to come and visit Miniwargaming and challenge you guys to some Warhammer Fantasy battles .... come on lotto numbers haha xD

I was wondering have you had much interest from gaming shops/suppliers to stock Dark Potential in Australia? I am hoping to see Dark Potential become a big hit in Australia and wish you guys all the best.

Thanks again and hope to be able visit sometime in the near future =D

Matt,
Question- I've been watching alot of batreps and have noticed that in most instances players don't fully trick out their Lords and Heroes. Is the general consensus that it's a waste of points? I try to maximize the potential of all my characters whether in atk or def. I posted in Dave's vid for woc Fielding a lord on steed fully maxed with the deamon sword worked well for me.I would like to here what your stategies are.

Hey Matt, I was wondering if you know anyone who plays The Empire in Warhammer Fantasy? If so, do you think you could arrange a batrep with them? I play them myself and think theyre a great and balanced army. It would certainly make for an interesting batrep. If anyone else is present in the video, please ask them if they know anything about the army too. I would realy appreciate the feedback. Thanks and Happy wargaming!

Hi Matt
A couple of questions and a statement

Statement: with the x'lanthos in dark potential they would most likely hove no sort of language at all. They would think and communicate using images and emotions. Language was created to communicate to other people through sound which was the easiest way to communicate. The x'lanthos already had a way of communicating so they did not need a language.

Questions:
1. Have you read the chaos codex if you have do you think the units are mostly way to cheap.
2. Is Dave happy about the new codex

Will dark potential be available in Australia
leahcim2211 (7 months ago): - delete
Hey Matt
How do you feel about sites that sell resin copies of 40k and forgeworld models. Obiously people like to support FW because they make great models and don't raise their prices but with constant GW prices I can see why people would want to buy it for significantly cheaper. Just wanted to know you opinion. p.s you guys were the main reason I got back into the hobby so thank you and I hope you keep making awesome content

Hey Matt, I want to thank you for getting me into wargamming! Also i was wondering what your opinion is on Black Templars. I haven't seen you ever play against Templars, and I think that it would be pretty cool to get see them in your batreps.

Hello Matt, If i happened to have an imperial guard army and my friend a eldar army, and we filmed a bat rep would you consider maybe including our batrep on miniwargaming.com?
Of course you would,
but if i continued to produce great quality batreps and send them to you would there be a possibility for me to be an "offlocation" video creator and getting paid?
By what i have seen in your sit and talks, wargamers are asking for better quality videos and i have great video equipment and experience video editing. Plus im a wargamer. Maybe we can skype this out sometime. let me know
