Painting Gems Easily

Hi Artist here. I really don't like models that have simple details unpainted. So I am writing this article for all those gamers who think it takes to much effort to paint gems or lenses. I will tell you how to do it in 3 simple steps.
1. Paint the gem the color you want.
2. Get a lighter version of that color and make a small cemicircle line of it around the bottom.
3. Put a dot of white opposite to the lighter color. This makes it look like it is reflecting light.
(optional) 4. Coat it with a gloss varnish to make it shiny.
And there you have a simple 3-4 step painting technique for gems.

erratyk I just made it as simple as possible and bergunder i find that the gloss blends the colors together, and the extra white would make it to bright (rhyme not intended).

Yeah, I do what erratyk does. I also add a curve of white at the bottom so you don't need the gloss varnish

nice, with my semi circles i use 2 lighter shades of the same color, adds even more realism.
