Chaos Black is pretty glossy, more so than say Vallejo? Maybe he used that to prime the model and the lights just picked up too much gloss?

Looks like a good paint job from the intro spinny model, looking forward to watching the rest of the vid.

Great video instruction wise, but something in the lighting or the rendering really makes that base coat look silver instead of black and changes the rest of the colors as well. White balance off maybe?
