I feel your pain Owen. Austin is a 2 syllable name too. I have thought about the same call sign problem. I have just stuck with my commission handle for now. Can't wait to see some WFB batreps.

I agree Four ranks of spearmen is good when not fielding them as a horde, because they have wounds to spare while still keeping their three ranks of attacks.

About Malekith: I don'nt know his rules but I do know that a lot of the special charcters in codexes made for earlier editions than 8th are not worth their points. Lizardmen special charecter wizards are way too overprized, because the spells in 8th edition are better.
He is probly worth it though. probably 200-250 of his points are for the dragon and 400 points for a special character who is both a close combat monster, has high leadership and a wizard sounds pretty standard to me. He is for big games though.

an elf player is not an elf player if you dont have a dragon....and no hydras dont count

@kodain actually good sir, you are correct. In my statement I was applying it to all units not specifically having the special rule: khanite.

I read it again and you are again correct that the cold one mounts would not get the blessing but the knights will in fact benefit from the blessing.

I have learned something new a very useful about a unit I only fielded with my witches. I will no longer hold back on fielding my cauldron with the rest of my army.
Kodain (Over a year ago): - delete
Oh, missed a little fine detail: "Note that mounts and creatures pulling chariots are not affected by the blessings" So in other words, the Cold One Knights would get the blessing, but the Cold One they're riding would not.
Kodain (Over a year ago): - delete
@Mhghast: Pg.51 of the DE rulebook. "Blessings of Khaine: Pick a single friendly unit within 24" of the Cauldron, even if engaged in close combat, to be affected by the chosen blessing".
Mhghast (Over a year ago): - delete
Something to think about with the cauldron. I do believe the blessings can only be given to khanite units. So all those nice blessings cannot help out warriors, crossbowmen or cold one knights.

Using the ward save on the witches as they move into charge range seems the best way to use them. They do die fast, but most of the dark elf army wears light armor and some can get a shield. So most of our dark elves die fast anyway needing the almighty 6 to keep fighting. My dark elf spearman seem to die just as fast as my witches do, though I admit I can't roll good to save my life.

I'm not a fan of harpies either. Yes they can stop the enemy marching easily and they can run interference, but the idea of them seems to always come down to blocking my own charge lanes by trying to run interference with the enemy. I admit I haven't used them, nor am I a great fantasy player. I'd rate myself a bit under average.

I always find myself taking a level 4 sorceress with dark magic. I could use a back up and maybe then taking a different lore, but dark magic goes with dark elves like steak and potatoes.

Good luck with your list expansion, and I am looking forward to seeing dark elves on the table.

Also I advise Black Guard. They can be deadly.
Infinite-Freedom (Over a year ago): - delete
I've faced Malekith. He died to my kitted out Chaos Lord, who totaled in at under half of Mal's points. The Black Guard that were escorting him died to my Chaos Warriors.
Troope (Over a year ago): - delete
Okay, apparently I've been letting you cheat again. Cauldron of Blood says that mounts and creatures pulling chariots are no affected by the blessings.

Also, Khainate models within 12" of the Cauldron are Stubborn, so that would save you some points on the banner. Seems a good combo.

Hey Owen! I like where your army is going!

Some advise though:
- About the harpies: think not of it of spending points, to protect other points, but to spend some points for battle control. Look a bit for tactics on speed bump units or the like. Cheap fast units are great for some important battlefield control, I win my games mostly just because of units like these.
- Dreadlords are nice. For competetive games I would suggest going with at least a lv4 and a lv2 wizard.
In 8th edition magic is extremely strong, but the strongest magic spells are actually supporting and hexing spells, because these spells are often easy to cast and they make you win close combat. (because of this I also would suggest lore of shadows with all the awesome hex spells).
Magic users will often make for out of their points cost than a close combat character.

A all-cavalry list sounds like fun, go for it.
And cold one knights are awesome indeed. (Lizardmen player here..., where lizards are riding other giant lizards.)

About the 2-syllables: I actually wouldn't have realised. Actually I thing, Matt usually starts his videos of "Matthew here from MWG", so with a 2-syllable name and throws evene a "here" in.
But well, I don't really about this issue, because it's not really one.

@Brush4Hire: What fantasy armies do you collect ?
LordHamshire (Over a year ago): - delete
Add to my previous post "Which it won't be..."

Change "And after is causes a unsaved wound" to "And after it causes a unsaved wound"
LordHamshire (Over a year ago): - delete
The talk about Lizardmen killing Hydras was talking about the Oldblood on Carnosaur with the Blade of Realities and the Dawnstone.

The Oldblood himself is going to have 1+ save with rerolls. Is going to be pumping out 5 attacks at Strength 5, WS 6. And for EACH successful HIT the victum must pass a Leadership test on it's on unmodified Leadership (for a Hydra the test would be on Leadership 6) or be slain instantly. No armor, ward, or regeneration saves are allowed. If the test is passed the attack continues as normal, rolling to wound and such.

The mount has 4 Attacks, and Strength 7! Attacks made by the Carnosaur have the Multiple Wounds (D3) special rule! And after is causes a unsaved wound, it gains Frenzy, and will never lose it's Frenzy even if beaten in combat.
Usul (Over a year ago): - delete
But the rules says you can't charge when you vanguard !

Level 4 are nice at dispelling.

So I'd like to see big Games - 2.5+ games !!! And please use terrain with all the niceties you can find in terrain.
Usul (Over a year ago): - delete
The rule about placing a unit not too far from other is "vanguard".

Just go by miniwargamer "O" problem solved.
Nichimus (Over a year ago): - delete
Not really played them much but from memory, I think couldren can give ward save? maybe. I think my mate gave the ward save to the wytches while running across the table, then the +1 attack when the were in combat. If u cant give the save then probably wont work.
