What gets me is that the Monolith is a skimmer... Yes, that great big hunk of 'living metal' can actually DODGE a deffrolla on a 3+.... Why not give it a red flag and the Battlewagon a pair of horns and shout 'Ole' when it misses!!!

One more thing: I'm not sure about the wording in the English rulebook, but in my German version, it says that a ramming tank must always move with the highest possible (!) speed, NOT that they always count as such.
Consequently, if the target is less than 6" away (7" with RPJ), the highest possible speed would be combat speed, allowing passengers to shoot as normal - the Ramming rule only prevents the tank from firing, not the passengers!

At least that's how it is played 'round these parts... may be due to shoddy translation, though, so I'm open for enlightenment. ^^

It won't work, since 'ard case prevents all but 5 of your boys from shooting, and even those 5 will probably have trouble drawing LOS: 'ard case removes the possibility to draw LOS from any point of the hull, instead constricting fire to 2 firepoints per side and 1 at the back. And since there's only 5 firepoints, 15 guys will be left to twiddle their thumbs, doing nothing. Leave out the 'ard case and it's a viable build.

Great tactics, once again. Two things, though:

1. I always, always, ALWAYS take grot riggers on my transports - being immobilized in the middle of nowhere sucks enough for things like trukks or looted wagons, for BWs, especially those with deff rollas, it's disastrous! Getting the 50:50 chance to restore mobility is well worth the 5 points, IMO.

2. Armour Plates... they are handy, since getting your BWs up close is essential, so turning 'crew stunned' to 'crew shaken' is huge - sadly, so is their points cost... depending on the importance of the cargo it might be worth it, though(if it's boys: meh, if it's burnas: heck yeah!).

As epicwilmer pointed out, 6th ED will probably change all this quite abit, anyways. We'll have to see if deff rolla BWs will still be viable, considering glancing shenanigans, and especially with the inclusion of purchasable tank traps (impassable terrain for non-skimmers) that can be strung up in front of an imperial tank gun-line *shudder*

i had to check out my SM just to look up the DTs and i found that on page 136 terminators and assault terminators can take LRs as DTs so its just like your orks! you can get 5 Land Raiders on the table. btw great tactica dan, finally about the unit that makes me want to get some orks.

Def Rolla's are cheeze! It'an upgrade so it's not a weapon, so it can't be taken off by the damage chart. Total and absolute cheeze!

Not to mention the simple fact that 9 times out fo 10 that battle wagon is loaded with a ton of nasty Ork Nobs.

19 shoota boys with 2 big shootas+ nob power klaw boss pole.

trying to use him as movable fireing platform with LOTS OF DAKKA, and to just ram enemy with deff rolla
