Just a hint to the imp guard players out there... Don't rush tanks right into the range of the scarabs. Use your troops to defend your tanks at maximum range. This was the silliest game that I have watched in ages.

Okay, i know that tailoring a list is "wrong", but i need advice on how to tailor vanilla marines against necrons. ever since the update, i have been unable to beat my necron-cousin once. every game i get close to anihilation of my forces. any recomendations? this is killing me!

I was suprised that IG player took so many lascannons and it worked as well as thought. In other words he would had been better off not taking those.

@sgthouse: Try to see it as IG is an army that you haven't learned to play good with yet, instead of saying that they are bad.

@sgthouse: He tricked you into playing army? Just because your not familiar with guard play style doesn't mean there bad, they are actually a very competitive army in 5th edition.

@sgthouse: to play Imperial Guard well you have to acknowledge their shortcomings and focus on elements of the list that are effective and value for points. eg: no conscripts, storm troopers, heavy weapons squads, ogryns, sentinels. instead take vets, meltas, chimeras, valks, vendettas, griffons, hydras.IG have the potential to field over 12 vehicles in a 1500p game,I have yet to see an army that can chew through all of it!

Isn't list building a massive part of the game? Why would you ever bring a list that isn't tailored to the likely composition of your opponent?

Maybe matt did tailor his list, but it wasnt like he said, "oh well my opponent is mech ig so I'm playing melta spam". 5th edition is mechanized, are you guys crying because matt built a list to combat the current metagame? 2 groups of 6 scarabs is nothing compared to what the tourney lists and if 9 plasma cannons a turn cant take out 2 groups of 6 scarabs then thats not matt's fault.

Would you prefer a repeat of matts last game when he got rolled because he was trying to glance a mech list to death with gauss weapons? Really?

@Vee27: Because they make money promoting their store and from views on the video. They 'lose' like 20 bucks which is nothing for any mini game and they're either buying like paint or paying the difference to actually get something for their army. There's better ways to make the game more interesting than tailoring.

I have no idea why Cam took 15 lascannons,for the points they cost (525) you can get 3 hydra flak tanks and 3 valkyries! I know which I would rather have!

I have played in one Beat Matt Batrep and I didn't see any real list tailoring when we played. In this case I think every time I have seen Cam play he has played Mech Guard so it might have just been common sense on Matt's part. If your opponent always plays the same thing, expect him to play that again. Also, while the lack of anything for Cam to shoot his Lascannons at hurt, I don't feel that Matt's list was really all that tailored anyways. It was more designed around being a fair balanced game. Cam just failed to kill those scarab swarms.

@Maj-Taco: Are you serious..? How can 6 plasmashots not be preferable to 3, at that range and in that situation.. Overheating, you still get double amount of shots off, which is going to weaken the assaulting necrons, so you might stand a better chance..

Hi Matt, great Batrep as usual. I do however, have to agree with several other posters on here regarding your list tailoring. I have watched all your Batreps, both 40k and fantasy, and thoroughly enjoy them, but is it a requirement of your challengers to let you know their list beforehand? Several times I have heard you say, "so-and-so brought ..., so I thought I would take ..." You seem to be a very capable player Matt,(better than me)but are you starting everytime with an advantage? I would be interested to know. Regards, and thanks again for all the entertainment you guys give us.
