Great sit and talk!!! What kind of hobbies do you have Holly when you aren't doing chores or taking care of the adorable little ones?

Start playing Warhammer(40k) and you just won't have the money for unhealthy food anymore. That's actually kind of what I did. ;D
Even though I play 40k since 1995, but spending the money on shiny hobby things instead of food really works.

I'm a 23 year old male who has been very into fitness and eating healthy for a long time. You guys seem to have done some good research about it and I will repeat some things you already know.

If you havnt already, cut sodas from your diet completely. Every time you want soda drink water instead. It might be hard at first but I think its the easiest thing to start with and will start making you feel better the quickest. Just start saying 'I'll have a water' instead of a coke and it will become easy before you know it. A 20oz bottle of coke is usually 240-290 calories. Peeps those little easter candies, stuff about 7 of them into a 20oz bottle and thats how much sugar your drinking. Sodas are straight poison, especially the caffeine. If anything view them as a treat. Instead of your awake levels going up and down, replacing soda and coffee with water and tea will help you start feeling awake on a more consistent basis throughout the day.

Eating red meats sparingly is the way to go. Also view them as a treat, as they are very bad for your heart. Chicken, turkey, and fish are the way to go.

I have had the same thing happen to me about vegetables making me hungry literally 30 min to an hour later. It confused me as well. Here are some reasons it could be happening: You're finally getting a significant amount of fiber in your diet, which can 'shock' the body and jump start the digestive and excretory systems because as you likely know fiber helps those systems run smoothly. Yes, drink more water, as fiber without water can actually SLOW things down. fiber and water go hand in hand. It may also mean that your body is in such need of 'real' nutrients that when they are introduced they get broken down very quickly to be used. A more positive reason could be that your better eating habits have caused your metabolism to get back on track. Many fruits and vegetables are easy for your stomach to dissolve. Try adding chicken or some kind of bread item when you eat them, that way your stomach has something more substantial to break down. generally foods high in protein and carbs make you feel full. This is why desserts often do as well, sugars are a type of carbohydrate.

That brings me to the carb issue. Your body needs carbs, dont cut them too much. You are supposed to have 9-11 servings of grain/high carb foods a day. These foods are your body's main source of energy. Pastas and stuff are fine, but yes swap white for wheat when you can. these high energy foods only become a problem when you dont USE the energy. When you dont use it thats when it becomes stored as fat.

I have a sweet tooth as well. I thought it would be hard to cut soda but it really wasn't. However it is impossible to avoid my sweet tooth completely. Thinking of going cold-turkey or using miracle pills is just not the right train of thought. As you said we have to eat. Its a matter of eating better rather than not at all. Its important to not see eating a piece of cake, for example as a mistake or a regret. If you're going to eat it, then eat it so long as you KNOW that it is in fact unhealthy for you and should be worked off later. Honestly thats a big first step, you'd be surprised how ignorant many people are about what they eat. I met a guy who was genuinely surprised when I told him drinking caramel macchiatos from starbucks every day was unhealthy.

As far as being pregnant, just remember that what you eat is what your baby is eating. Often what is first introduced to a baby's diet is what their bodies conform to. I wouldnt worry about eating less while nursing because yeah you're feeding two people. Eating better is always a good idea but in terms of losing weight I would go so far as to suggest dont even worry about it while nursing. Once that is over losing weight will be much easier. Plus, eating better should naturally start to bring your body weight down anyway.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying what life has to offer, like food. But the funny thing is that people like me always feel compelled to take responcibility for our desitions. Eat candy, run it off. It's all about balance. That's my take on it anyway.

@unxpekted22: hey man, thanks for the info! I cut pop from my system yeears ago. still enjoy the occasional coffee but i drink tea for the most part of it . I'm now known by my friends and family for always ordering water when i go out. I drink a ****load of water as well. I remember hearing that we as humans do not drink enough water everyday so I go the distance and drink up. xD

the red meats thing is interesting/helpful though thank you, its pretty much the only thing I didnt know. for exercise, i usually just do 20-30 push ups

Wonderful sit and talk Holly! Its interesting to get some back story on you, Matt, and the rest of the miniwargaming crew. I'm sure my wife could empathize with you about the basement business as I'm currently running my ebay empire out of ours My wife also recently started to lose some weight as our son is now 14 months and is no longer so hands on labor intensive. Best of luck in reaching your goals, and I'm looking forward to the next talk

I went from just above 300 lbs to around 170 - still eat a lot, just eat differently. Have a low carbohydrate diet, and do short, high intensive workouts for about 30 minutes 4 days a week. I hate jogging, swimming and so on, it takes way too long. 30 minutes tops, anything over that and its frankly mind-numbingly boring. Jogging and low intensive work-outs just burn fat when youre doing it, high intensive ones burn throughout the day. But, whatever works for you is the right thing to go by, whatever it is. Hope you find it! Any good habits you can keep is way better than what is good in the short term. Good luck, and hope to see more vlogs!

I love to hear from the female war gamer! About the food addiction thing I can totally relate. I am 18 year old male, I used to eat like 2 to 3 (big) snacks a day as well as like a dessert. A while back I decided it was time for a change and went 'cold turkey' as you put it. For me this meant only three meals a day (no exceptions). I also started working out twice weekly for about 35 min. each time. About four months later and I have lost 30 lbs. Going 'cold turkey' Is very hard, after being pregnant I'm sure it will be harder for you but defiantly worth it and I would recommend it! Great video, keep up the good fight!

Question for the next video: Have you ever played Warmachine, 40k, etc (some sort of miniatures game)? If yes, what faction? If no, would you ever play a game like this?
