Magnetized and Painted Trygon Prime/Mawloc
So I finally got around to starting up my Tyranid army, Hive Fleet Drakken, and I was so impressed with the Trygon model I went ahead and did the entire thing before all my other units. Even though I think the Trygon is amazing, I went ahead and magnetized the jaws/mandables/head carapace so I can swap between the mawloc and the trygon freely. The arms and tail are not magnetized, but I really enjoy those particular pieces so I use them for both models.
I'm used to painting space marines and such, this is my first Tyranid paint job.
Paints used:
Primer - Basic Acrylic Black spray primer.
Body - Liquitex Prism Violet for the undercoat, prism violet & Americana Snow White for the highlights.
Talons - Liquitex Naphtol Crimson
Carapace - Liquitex Mars Black, Artists Loft Cobalt blue highlight
Eyes - Liquitex Naphtol Crimson, Artists Loft Vermilion and Artists Loft Lemon Yellow
Teeth- Americana Snow White, Folkart Honeycomb for the highlight
Flesh mouth/tongue - Liquitex Naphtol Crimson, then Crimson mixed with Americana Sand for highlight.
Trygon Prime Mandables - Citadel Tallarn Flesh Foundation. (for the spring looking side pieces of the mandables)
For the base it was just ordinary green fine flock, with coarse green flock, some dirt and rocks from the yard. Same stuff I use for my terrain.
No green stuff was used to magnetized the model. In total it was about 16 of the tiny magnets for all the pieces to fit in together.
