This is probably a bit later to be commenting on this video considering the last comment from someone was 3 month ago but what the hay, Here goes. really good table I like it and a good choice in timber too. As a carpenter myself I can give you a tip or two to improve the design and in turn up the strength of the tables structure. I worn you in mind these tips do use some things that take practice to master but will be worth it. like I the timber is a good choice for this project and when you making the frame for the table. rather then cutting the wood so it good round nicely, like you said you had to shorten the timber from 4' for the head, tail and braces. cut them 4' then in the corners you join them with a dovetail joint. hard to explain with out drawing but what your doing is cutting "Dovetail" shape (the male part of the joint) on one bit of timber and two pins (the Female part) on the other so that the corners of your frame slot together rather then just meet. This way the corners are holding together before you've put your ply wood on top. You can then do the some for you braces but this time using a "Through Mortice and Tenon Joint" Mortice being the female part and Tenon being the male part. again hard to explain with out drawing but with the wood you using . What your doing is making the tenon first is cutting the tenon that should be a 3rd the width by the thickness of the timber its going into. so in this case it the timber for the brace is 1inch x 3inchs then the tenon will be 1inch in the centre of the timber and 1 inch long . the you cut the mortice which is a holl that the same size as your tenon. once you done this they slot together. so now the corners are held together and the braces are fermly holding to sides make a strong frame thats holing its own before you've scrawed your ply wood in place and that will make you table stronger. Again like I said these joints do take practice to get perfect. I took me a good 3 months to master them. and there most likely diagrams of the joints on the internet somewhere. those joints again where a "Dovetail Joint" on the corners and a "Through Mortice and Tenon."
