@Azeebo: Games Workshop, despite all their wishes, embargoes, and attitude, does not own independent resellers like MWG. So they are free to sell whatever they want, including mantic or any other alternative to overpriced GW stuff. Some people are willing to pay for GW, others are not - and thats OK, thats a free market, something that GW obviously hates And hopefully some day this free market and numerous competitors will make GW understand that we are their customers not mindless ATMs.

misleading title

Not really sold on the "space marine" and "ork" equivalents, but those Corporation models look pretty cool and would make an IG army even seem economically feasible.

@linikratyo: Not misleading at all. The title is "Half the price of Games Workshop miniatures" not "Half-price Games Workshop miniatures"

Your own misinterpretation doesn't constitute error or marketing ploy by MWG.

I am sorry, people are considering buying mantic over GW? Seriously? Mantic make nice models, but the quality is inferior to GW, and to perfectly honest their models are a blatant rip off across the board. You pay for quality.

"Hmmm, i want a new Aston martin. Instead i will get a Fiat Panda...its cheaper and obviously the same"

I love love love Mantic products. They are not inferior the rules systems are more intuitive and the models are cheaper. What's not to like? I like GW alot, but not the yearly price increases. If Mantic, PP, Malifaux et. al. can chew up enough market share then GW may lower their prices. That would be another reason to love Mantic and the rest! Some complain the models are rip-offs, I say they are similar not because they couldn't come up with their own stuff (which they do well btw) but to allow for compatibility. Digital convergence worked for tech devices, this will work for Mantic. Smart business sense is what it is, not a rip-off.

IMO they are decent sculpts but they look different especially with the "orx". I don't wanna spoil any ones day but its worth saying here before people jump on this. There is NO shootah option for the marauders. You only get slugga and choppah options. They don't have a ton of customization and if your gonna run them I recommend keeping them in their own squads so they aren't looking silly with the other models. Just a word of advice, I'm not trying to say not buy them just be prepared.

Great video. Im glad to see that you guys are trying to help wargamers find ways to play the game without breaking their bank account. Keep the videos coming!

the forge father iron ancestor could be easily used as a dreadnought for space marines

It's a shame there are not some assembled and painted models in the video.

If GW doesn't lower prices to match or less then the others, all people will do is just use other armys like these and play with GW settings or that brands settings. i really don't care about what people play with and it shouldnt matter at all.

@Azeebo
If your balling enough to buy GW miniatures like that you should totally buy me some. This is NOT a cheap hobby but if i have a friend who wants to get into it and they offer cheaper alternatives to the "awesome" gw models I'm gonna send them to mantic. Yeah its not the same quality and yes they look like rip offs but its a great way to get into an awesome hobby and have loads of fun.

I probable would'nt consider myself buying proxies for my space marines but I could make cool conversions with parts from the Mantic models

The Enforcers models remind me a little of some of the Tau and Necron models. I love that Mantic makes basically what could be called Space Skaven and Space Dwarf armies. (in a GW world)
MiniWarGaming (Over a year ago): - delete
@mortivore: You could definitely use these in our battle reports, as long as they are fully painted.

@rich9517 Beasts of War had a better PDF for download I believe with some tokens. Was just curious if anybody here had played it in real life and found it fun.

wow those enforcers look so much cooler then space marines miniatures

@LawL-LawL: black reach orks look pretty terrible en masse.
mortivore (Over a year ago): - delete
Would you be able to participate in a Beat Matt Batrep with these miniatures or would they be considered proxies?
rich9517 (Over a year ago): - delete
@Maximum: you can download the rules for the game on the mantic website for free

Out of curiosity, is Warpath a decent/fun game with decent rules itself?

Or is it vastly inferior to WH40K/etc and only really good for using as proxy models/bits....

Just an additional note, GW miniatures are ridiculously expensive, yes, but ONLY if you buy retail.

If you don't mind getting your hands dirty, second-hand is always going to be better value and still GW-legal.

Oh and as for Orks, with Black Reach flooding the place with cheap Slugga boyz, I don't think you'd need Mantic's Marauders for filling out rank-and-file unless you have a specific liking for their marauders.

The Marauder commander, I will say, looks actually rather good. His right hand carries a crude-looking gun which easily passes as a shoota or slugga of sorts, and his left hand sports something which can easily be converted into a power-klaw. That said, it's not like scratch-building or buying a Warboss is that hard either.

The only thing with the Ork miniatures range I find falling woefully short of expectations are the Big Gunz and Mega Armoured Nobz. Try assembling an army with GW-made versions of those models and you'll be out on the streets in no time.

WHat is the strange sort of fuzziness from arounf 4:40 to 5:10 ? I have noticed it in several of your videos but never bothered to ask before, I assume it is something with the camera?

Fredde (Over a year ago): - delete
You know, the value is there, certainly, but comparing the models I would feel the need to do some conversion work on those marauders, espescialy the heads. But thats just me, I really like GW stuff, when ignoring the price of course.

I just bought some to fill VC army (30 zombies for like 20 bucks). My friend also just built a Space Marine ally out of dwarfs and spare bits.
kuprijaneca (Over a year ago): - delete
The dwarves are a really good proxy for a fantasy army and corporation models would make sick guard infantry.

Good more of there, GW needs some competition so they might become realistic again (fat chance I know)
