I am surprised you did not use paroxysm with the swarmy.
Tragically he is so overcosted...and no eternal warrior makes the hive mind weep.

@joako12 - Doubling toughness is not the ONLY way to cause instant death, it is simply the most common.

All of the following rules result in instant death for any creature that doesn't have Eternal Warrior:

1) Wound from a Tyranid Bonesword - model takes a Ld test on 2d6 for single, 3d6 for pair, failure = death.
2) Wound from Tyranid Swarmlord = instant death, period
3) Wound from a D weapon (Apocalypse only)
4) Wound from a Force Weapon - wounding unit takes a psychic test, success = instant death for target (this is what happened)

There are several other rules and abilities that remove models from play rather than instant death as well - the Chaos Nurgle guy (can't remember the name), Jaws of the World Wolf for the Space Wolves, I believe the new Necron Death Ray causes removal from play as well.

Can someone explain to me why does the swarmlord is instant killed? I have the 5 edition codex and it says his toughness is 6 so he cant be instant killed.

Swarmlord and TFex going down is karma for the dreadknight.

The Doom of Malan'tai killing the nemisis dreadknight is the only good thing that came out of the dreadknight being a monstorous creature

Swarmlord shud never have eternal warrior as it as only force weapon cud instant kill him, also why didn't the GK attacking the Swarmlord make a psychic test for the unsaved wound as and per SoW he may have failed and died

Not sure who's going to win. If the Doom can suck out more brains or the Genestealers get some good positioning and rolls Matt should be fine. Otherwise, GKs are scary.
Olinser (Over a year ago): - delete
Matt, quick note, don't think it would have affected much - but per the codex, if they are striking at different initiative order (as just about every Grey Knight squad should), they take the Force Weapon psychic test after the first unsaved wound is caused.

stunning good luck on the GK player regarding the ldr checks vs. the doom.

As soon as I saw it was Tyranids (said to be the worst 5E Codex, SoB WD one doesn't count) vs Grey Knights I felt it was pretty obvious the Nids would lose. So far there doesn't seem to be anything the nids can do. Only been lucky so far...

@IDreadnought: Use Black Templars against them, Greyknights start to cry if you do that.

If MWG Matt gave his Genestealers Adrenal Glands, he definitely should've gone straight for the Terminators and mauled them in melee. Those Purifiers were too entrenched to even bother with. Terminators are only I6. Purifiers are I(Better Than You Forever).

Still anyones game. Tyranids dont have the numbers they would need to seal the victory but with a bit o luck they can take this game.
