Skip the lascannon dread, go for a dual autocannon w/ psybolt ammo. Statistically that's better than the lascannon at anything but AV14. Plus it's only 135, you could easily fit that in a small game.

I look forward to a subsequent post on how it goes with the purgation squad. In general I rarely find that there is a target I want to shoot that I can't draw LoS. Though I can see hiding behind a wall to protect myself.

@JadedKnight:
I fully respect your views but I personally think that the purgation squads rule to be able to shoot an enemy they cant see is awesome, and I wont have the points for purifiers.
With the dreadnoughts and transports unfortunately my club only plays small 1000 - 500 pt games so I dont have the points for them. In my 1000 pts list coming up soon I will definately have a purufier squad with a rhino and maybe a dreadnought if I have the points with a twin linked lascannon.

In general I think the psycannons are a much better buy, far more versatile.

If you can, I'd personally prefer a purifier squad to the purgation squad. Those will massacre large choppy armies like orks and tyranids, which you face commonly. Kit those guys with halberds and multi-assault when possible.

On your shopping list should be some transportation, a vindicare assassin, and dreadnoughts. These are basic utility units that complement lots of different GK builds.

Thanks for posting comments! Does everyone think scrapping the brotherhood champ and the warding stave and adding a strike squad with a psycannon and having two psycannons and two psilencers in my purgation squad is a good idea?
Post a comment if you like the idea!

You have absolutely nothing that can shoot beyond 24", no mobility (worse you can't move and shoot your psilencers), only one gun that can open up a rhino, and HQ choices that don't do much. I don't think this list is going to work. Suggest scrapping and starting again.

Sorry

I would say the Warding staff on a strike squad is a little unnecessary. They are not good enough in close combat to warrant a 25 point investment for a 2+ invul, that only works in close combat. I would also consider removing the brotherhood champion altogether. Remove him and the stave and you could have another strike squad with a psycannon (because they can still be fired 4 times if you are worried about lack of firepower). If you rework your list (like drop the purgation squad) enough that you can get a purifier squad, that squad will wreck horde armies in close combat. Their special ability will wear the horde down in moments.

And the most important thing, Games Workshop does not allow you to post points of individual upgrades as it breaks copyrights. So just take off the points for the upgrades and add it to the total cost of the unit.
