i don't know much about orks but if you get paroles of the warp you get a invulnerable save if you fail then it takes a wound

Dan, as a tactics suggestion: You could have easily multi-charged his 2nd squad of assault marines that were behind the trees. Most likely still routing both units or keeping that squad pinned so they don't charge the trukk next turn.
