Realistically, you could make a smoke grenade by just lighting green wood on fire... It smokes a lot..

If the world was truly so destroyed and derelict, there would not be an endless supply of consumable single-use weaponry, namely smoke grenades.

More realistic and strategic would be to have each unit (or the entire army) with only a certain number to use each game.

Smoke grenades should have a special rule, you CAN spam them, and be the annoying guy who only likes to win, but you must take a pie plate to the face for every turn you do this.

Rtw ftw!!!! On another note, the grenade cap seemed like a good idea, or perhaps make it so you have to sacrifice more than an extra move to place/throw a smoke grenade?

You can break and run to any board edge as they may have paths and escape routes to their camps all around the board.
