The Land Raider Crusader is allowed to fire its hurricane bolters even after moving onto the board because the hurricane bolters are strength 4, which means they count as defensive weapons.

@Vehementi: You may deploy *up to* 2 troops and 1 HQ. Taking 2nd turn and not deploying anything (and denying your opponent a turn of shooting and assaulting) is kinda a standard tactic in DOW. Also if the *GAME* ends (via roll as normal) and your opponent has nothing on the board, you auto win.

Matt, I really wish I could afford to get a flight and a hotel there. I'd play my Necrons, so I'd assume you'd play your Tyranids...

Only, I also play Tyranids and you also play Necrons, so we'd both know what we were up against. I think it'd be an amazing battle, that would ultimately result in my defeat (You're a badass tactician.).

Unfortunately, I'm a jobless bum livin' in the UK, so it's a bit out of my reach .

@everyone who responded: According to how the rule seems to be worded, it is very interesting that if a chimera moved 12" the squad inside could not shoot BUT it could move 12", unload, and then the squad outside could shoot. It seems like if they did not have the time to shoot while they were inside the vehicle, they wouldn't have time to unload AND shoot. Rules are worded peculiarly?

I know it can't be helped but the proxies and conversion's (tervigons and tyrannofex) bases are the incorrect size. The new models have a Trygon sized base and therefore, this could of given you a slight advantage to getting into assault earlier. Not to moan, just to sugest. I made a tyrannofex conversion before the model came out but luckily I stuck it on the raignt base Hope this helps

So..... absolutely noone thinks my choice of objective was an issue? Like possibly the biggest in the game?

Did the D.A player roll for sight distance (since its night fighting turn one)?

Also, I think (not entirely certain) the shooting from the landraider after moving 12 inches is using the machine spirit for the multi melta, then counting the hurricane bolters as defensive weapons that can fire so long as another weapon can fire (in this case, the multi melta). It kind of over uses the machine spirit rules, but thats what people seem to do with it.

I have to say, I wouldn't want to run Swarmlord without 2-3 Tyrant Guard. They act as ablative wounds, and allow him to get cover as an infantry model - both are extremely important for a 280pt model with no invulnerable save.

@MathiusBraun: The Genestealers were outflanking, not infiltrating. They come on from one of the sides and move on the board as normal. The Swarmlord doesn't give Genestealers the ability to outflank, Genestealers having the Infiltrate special rules allows them to outflank. All the Swarmlord was doing was giving +1 to the reserve rolls and also allowing you to re-roll the dice to determine which table edge they arrive from. Hope that clears things up.

I'd like to see more battle-reports with Deathwing in them. One of my regular opponents plays Deathwing and I'm having a particularly hard time cracking that terminator armour!
