Confirmed: GW Switching from Metal to Resin

Just a quick update.

I have confirmed reports from my trade manager at Games Workshop that the new Citadel Finecast (see this post at Games Workshop) will in fact be resin.

This means that all metal models are either discontinued or will eventually (or immediately) get replaced with the new resin models.

We will get our first batch of these models in next week, where I will do a review to see how good the quality is.

Unfortunately with this comes a price increase, not just of the new resin miniatures but of a lot of other products as well, amounting to about a 20% price increase in all the products affected.

Not a large percentage of products are affected, but a lot of popular ones are, such as Assault on Black Reach and many battle forces and battalions.

If you still want to get the better prices then you will need to order before next Saturday, May 28th.

people just listen and stop complaining yes the price increase is bad but think they need to make new resin able moldes and re design the models so they can be made from resin and also GW is a people company so once every 6 months they post there profits and if you look back every price increase doesnty affect there profits it is going somewhere else so they arnt greedy they are trying to keep there own business going

@Jmaddux: oh ps, witht he new 8th rules to beastmen and warriors, i now have a 2500pt warrior army and a 1500pt army for 400$ and 1 2k nid army for 400$ :'(

I remember my 1st Army box, it was Warriors of Chaos it came with 13 metal models (spawn, 2 heros, 10 knights and horsemen)50 core unit models (plus 5 or 6 extra parts for each model). I also got the Beastmen version too and that came with metal Ogres and trolls +3 heros and 5 metal centigors (full metal horse bodies) both boxes were $199 each box came with alot of metals and alot of core codexs. So i got 80-90% of my 2 main armies for 200$ Just started nids and i have to say in order to get the 2k pts army list i want i need to spend 440$ (without tax).

That's just a "slap in a face" from GW to every single warhammer FB/40K player, imho. I don't play warhammer anymore (warmachine/horde ftw

), but I still like their miniatures. There are some rumors about new Tau and SoB minis, and I'll buy them if they will be good, but...THIS? That's just insulting.

so....theyre switchin from metal to resin..and they are rising theyr prices... like the resin part but...price increase? dude..i mean DUDE!! how much hundreds of dollars am i gonna have to pay to get my wraithguard unit??? i am gonna write to gw and tell em a piece of my mind we should all do the same if enuff of their players tell em theyre going overboard i cant believe theyll ignore us...

Fortunately he seems OK with adding spiky bits to Pig Iron guys to create a cultist themed guard army.

I was under the impression that the Finecast would be for "colectors" models and that thats what the resin would be used for.

personally, i think i may prefer anything to metal.

BUT WHY is the price going up? are they freakin kidding? it's bad enough they can't get they're stuff strait with codex's (nid 4th-5th edition i'm looking at you) but they have to drive prices up with what SHOULD be a cheaper material? FU GW, i'm done.
