Ok, this project is really turning into something pretty cool, but a LOT of work. Let’s revise:
Let’s start with the center of it all, the Barsa Chess arena. An arena very like a chess board where 40k factions spend their free time battling to the death. The arena design is done: http://www.miniwargaming.com/content/the-board-the-setup. Once painted it will look like a field of pilars, I hope. The playing field will probably be set on a lava pool or other kind of nasty liquid. That pool will be surrounded by scenic pieces, like the converted fortress of redemption: http://www.miniwargaming.com/content/fortress-redemption-conversion, and the Barsa Chess Champion: http://www.miniwargaming.com/content/barsa-chess. I am currently painting the fortress up and trying out some weathering techniques. If anyone would like to see how that is coming along, i’ll post an update.
Now on the new:
One of the scenic pieces will be an Ork Stompa. The idea is that the Orks come to watch Barsa Chess and bring a king size cheerleader! Now, I never really liked the Stompa design, untill I saw the Battlewagon conversion. So, I got cracking:
The body took about 2 afternoons to build:
The original head... it looks like a big christmas tree:
Than, the Battlewagon setup:
Breaktime:
The basic conversion:
Now I just need to put up some detailing, and Stubby is ready for a base coat. After that, he will have to wait his turn in the paining que....
Happy wargaming!
