Did you use pure alcohol to thin your paints? If so, that's a horrible idea. Alcohol breaks down the molecular level of the paints. It's essentially ruining the integrity of the paint and will cause it to not last as long. As for using a brush and alcohol, i'd imagine that you'd want to use a synthetic brush and not your expensive kolinsky sable because alcohol is so harsh.
