Hi to all Chaos miniwargamers! This is a short guide I created to help those of you who use Abaddon or might want to use Abaddon. Also, don't be discouraged, some of these tips might be useful for other HQs Here are a few tips.

1. Against armies that make you suffer many hits or wounds such as Orks, even though Abaddon has a 2+ save you should put him in a retinue of units that could be useful (Terminators or other squads that would enhance Abaddons survival chance) Then you can simply kill one member of the squad. This will definetely increase the chance of Abaddon survival because you can kill off the weaker units instead of taking a chance of wounding him. These units can also help Abaddon finish off units that have only a few models that Abaddon failed to kill.

This is a great advantage especially if Abaddon has only one or two wounds left.

2. If your enemy has many heavy weapons (Tau or possibly Space Marines),you can hide him in a Land Raider. A Land Raider is the most heavily armored Chaos vehicle, making it hard to penetrate. Plus, a Land Raider has a pretty good amount of fire power and can easily trade fire with most enemy units (Land Raider has 2 Twin-Linked Lascannons and A Twin-Linked Heavy Bolter)

3. This is a great tip for those who like to get Abaddon into assault as soon as possible. If you like assaulting, get another HQ ( That HQ doesn't have to be point expensive). This will allow Abaddon to deep strike and in a Planet Strike Battle (as defender) because as attacker, you can already do this. This tactic is twice as effective because he can assault on the turn he arrives and have the support he needs to win any assault . Also to make this strategy even better, put him in a terminator retinue so then they can further increase his awesomeness.
4. Remember, Abaddon can use all of the Daemon weapon abilities. This makes him super strong because he has + 2 D6 attacks that cause instant death and his Daemon weapons' abilties also improve his ranged attacks.
5. Be cautious of his Daemon weapon. While it causes massive damage, it can also make you wound yourself. Also, never be overconfident, Abaddon isn't invincible.
