Finished Lictor and Guard and new bases

I finished my Lictor like 2 weeks ago and my guard about 1 week ago, just had a bunch of crap to do.

The good news is I finally got myself a camera so now I can take picture whenever.

===================
Lictor
===================

Didn't really do anything new, same formula with the carapace.
Made it more unique by posing the Lictor to a low stalking crouch.

I had to file down the leg peg to get it to crunch and green stuff the joint. Also when crunched so low the normal head socket will make the head point down so I had to file some of the head carapaces pointed ends.

I've also bent the tail, the end was easy to bend with some pliers but the base part was thick and it took a bit of force and in some places the pliers dig in, but whatever.

Notice the new Autumn themed base, more on that at later.

====================================
New Base Theme
====================================

Well for a long time my army had the simple GW sand as a base and black edges. But my army is pretty big and I have been thinking of doing some basing work of a while. I started with the rocks I added to the rippers I did a while back. But the plain GW sand wasn't cutting it I needed more colour to it.

Then I saw imperial-soldier's video on basing ideas
http://www.miniwargaming.com/content/9G4oEd8DL6qt, and he mentioned tea leaves for an autumn base and it got me thinking. I've always like the colours of autumn and that is when I decided to have an autumn themed base.

Now I did not have any tea leaves but the idea of using dried herbs and such stuck to me, I knew the perfect thing, Tex Mex. It was perfect thing to use, it has the right colours and the little bits look like leaves and there are also some little cone like things in it.

It was 1/4 full when I started to use it.

At first I did my rippers, since they already had rocks on them.

Then I did my Warriors
The middle warrior I tried mixing it with 1:1 tex mex and sand turned out pretty red.

Yeah I soon realized that it isn't working out as planned. I realized that the Tex Mex red powder is taking up all the glue and not letting the big flakes be glued. So I got a small sifter thing and sifted out all the powder and all I had left was the flakes.

Now that I had the right stuff I did my Winged Hive Tyrant's Base

Now I think it fits very well with my colour scheme since it create a sort of "balance" with the colours. I'll also be adding a grey rock to each of my bases because of some reason having some grey or similar coloured object in an autumn theme seems to work well.

==============================================================

Uhhhh not really modeling but I did finished a small home project today.

I wanted a new table thing for my little game set up in my room, this is what is was before.

Yeah a cardboard box and a cheap and old plastic table isn't gonna cut it anymore.

So I created a little schematic for my new table.

Went to Home Depot and bought some wood and had it be cut over there.

And started building!
about 3 hours later I have this

And now it's pretty much done, just need to get the right sized wood to fit in that shelf part.

The carapace isn't that hard to do, you just need to do like a million strokes, there is no secret technique. Try it for yourself

@Kingluigi99

I did some dry brushing on the skin.

I go do
Undercoat - Chaos Black
Base Coat - Lich Purple
Wash with purple ink because GW doesn't sell Midnight Blue any more (My old Base Coat) and I wanted to darken the Lich Purple.
Dry Brush 2:1 Lich Purple/White
Dry Brush 1:1 Lich Purple/White
Maybe Dry Brush 1:2 Lich Purple/White
(These ratios are not accurate I just go by eye)

I suppose I should make the dry brushing more noticeable at least in the joint areas. Maybe on my next models, 2 Biovores or 2 gargoyles?

Thanks for the comment.

Heh I just realized it took exactly 3 hours (from the clock) for me to take a picture of the old game set up, then lug the table from the living room, drill out a hole in the back for the wires, move the monitor, speakers, PS2 and wires, then put the table in place, set all the crap up, and then take a picture.
locbot (Over a year ago):
