Use my house rule.
If you decide to try and seize, then a roll of 6 is the same. A roll of 1 means you don't seize AND your units cannot run or assault in addition to all your units on the table counts as having moved, even if they remained stationary (only lasts for turn 1).
Another variant I've played is that a roll of 1 when trying to seize results in your units requiring to do a leadership test to perform any action during turn 1.

this is a moot point by now but the doom doesn't stop at 10 wounds unless that was faq. because rulebook pg.2 under modifiers says that only wounds and attacks can be raised above 10

With the new Tyranid Codex missing the Mycetic spore, you should use it in games as special terrain that uses it's shooting attack at the closest unit.

@43min 30Sec, again not that it really mattered, but the Termaguant that charged the bloodthirster should not have gained the Furious Charge as you don't benefit from the effects unless you are within range when it is used, it is not used until your Strength comes into play.

@40mins, Fleshbane USR only allows 2 to wound, it does not grant re-rolls, that is shred USR. Not a huge deal and didnt change much at all, but some food for thought.

@panzerfart nice idea concerning the often frustrating 'sieze the intiative' rule.
Adding a penalty turns it into something more strategic rather then a potential luck based punishment for choosing to go first.

I think you did the stomps wrong against the hormagaunts.
You roll for each unit under the marker, not each model. A 6 would mean every model under that marker gets removed, lower means everyone under suffers a S6 hit etc ...
