I started out when black reach came out and have been slowly collecting and painting ever since. Due to the way I started, I am collecting space marines and orks. But if I had my way I'd have at least 1000 points of everything!
Ok, now for the fluff!
Things were usually pretty quiet in the Prilos system. Several hundred light years off the main trade routes and shipping lanes, only a small detachment of space marines from the 13th Dark Hunters were stationed in system. It was this company that was the first to fall to the rusty blades of WAAAGH Hillbilly.
It was on Prilos IV, in the foothills of the Denebian Mountain range where the Orks first struck. The attack was quick, brutal and unexpected, leaving nothing but scorched earth and broken ceramite.
Having lost all transmission from Prilos IV, the worst is assumed and the marines of the fighting 13th prepare to make a crucial stand on the next habitable planet in the system, Prilos VII a small desert mining world known in system as "New Kenya". Failure here would leave the neigboring system Xantalos open for attack. Xantalos Prime, known for its iridium mines, must not fall to the Orks lest they be nigh unstoppable.
The Dark Hunters prepared for the worst. Remote as the Prilos system is, there would be no reinforcements to bolster weakened defenses and no escape from the bloodlust of the Orks.
...about Space Marines, "These thangs is easy ta kill!" -Jak Slapp, Boss of WAAAGH Hillbilly.
Transmission received: Prilos VII lost... no survivors detected in planetary scan... Dethstroke space hulk heading for Xantalos system... planetary invasion imminent... prepare to repel Ork assault... out.
The first planet in the Xantalos system is a mining and agricultural world, rich in resources. The fightin' 13th have staged an ambush about 20 clicks outside Zongor City, on highway 13. Good luck has been granted them, and the ork invasion has landed well off course, clear of any major populated areas. The tension mounts as the Emperors chosen call on His name to see them to their bloody revenge. Intelligence reports that Jak Slapp, Boss of WAAAAAGH! Hillbilly has issued a notice to his boyz, that he will personally slit the throat of any Ork who kills less than five humans.
Though the Orks won the day on Rt. 13, the overall Marine objective was achieved... thin the Ork ranks, and force the invaders to seek refuge in the only place suitable near the ambush site.
With the Orks forced into bivouac, the Marine artillery fire bases train their guns and begin the second part of the operation. Raining their brand of fiery retribution, down on the infidels who would dare to contest humanities glorious birthright.
And so the artillery salvos, like the Xanthalian termites before them, begin to burrow into the brittle hide of their new victim... Zongor City. |
