Ready for another contest? We thought so!
This one is going to be totally different than our Warhammer Video Contest that was just recently finished. This one is going to have to do with miniature painting, assembling, and conversion.
Here’s how it’s gonna work:
In order to enter you must create a short painting tutorial on the subject of your choice, using pictures to back up your tutorial.
The tutorial should include:
-an article of at least 150-200 words to do with painting, assembling, or conversion techniques
-at least 3 high-quality pictures to illustrate the steps
HOW TO ENTER:
Please email your article to support@miniwargaming.com, attaching the pictures that you are referencing with appropriate names that you reference in the article.
For example, you could name the pictures “Pic 1″, “Pic 2″, and “Pic 3″ and then within the article that you send you would put text such as: “refer to Pic 1″ or “see Pic 1″
There are some basic rules:
1. This must be 100% yours. The pictures must be yours, and must not infringe on ANY copyright laws. (You are allowed to take pictures of GW miniatures, just not pictures of pictures)
2. The tutorial must be emailed as specified above before April 30, 2008 at midnight EDT.
3. The tutorial does not have to have Games Workshop miniatures to qualify (i.e. you can use another miniature war game if you prefer).
4. You must specify which category you are entering (see below).
5. There is no limit to the number of entries that you can submit. The more you submit, the higher chance you have of winning!
6. When you submit your articles, you agree to allowing us to use the content (both the written part and the pictures) for any purpose that we like (commercial or not), without requiring any royalties or compensation whatsoever. You will still retain the rights to use the content that you submitted however you like.
7. The tutorial does not have to be new to this contest, but it must follow rule #1.
8. The minimum age requirement for the contest is 13. If you are under 13, you will need to have your parents or legal guardian submit to the contest for you.
CATEGORIES:
There are two categories to choose from:
-Basics (e.g. drybrushing, choosing good paints, highlighting, assembling)
-Advanced (e.g. conversion, painting eyes, painting larger models)
Make sure that you specify which category you are entering when you email your entry.
PRIZES:
There will be one grand prize winner chosen from all of the entries who will win a $100 gift certificate to our online Warhammer store.
There will also be a category winner chosen from each category. They will each win a $50 gift certificate to our online store. The grand prize winner cannot win one of these prizes.
Lastly, there will be two runner-up prizes for each category, with the winners receiving a $25 gift certificate each to our online store.
JUDGING:
Entries will be judged based on the following components:
1. Overall quality of tutorial.
2. Clarity of tutorial (i.e. not leaving steps out).
3. Quality of pictures (fuzzy or faded pictures will lose points).
Entires will NOT be judged based on grammar or spelling, as many of our MiniWarGaming regulars are from other countries where English is not the first language.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackWould the painting of a specific standard miniature be in the basic category?
That depends on how detailed you do the miniature.
If it is a basic painting scheme, then submit it under basic. If you spend 2 hours on a small miniature with 20 different colours, then submit it under advanced.
So nothing about terrain? (If it there isn’t, that should be next contest)
Not this time, but there will be many more contests!
it has to be pics or can it be a vid?
Hurraay, this is a contest I was born for :).
Painting tips contest I love ya.
I will try to make some cool tutorials for all you guys/(girls if they do this).
Hey im 13 and well this is my 1st time in a warhammer contest so ive already sent mine in but can u give me some tips plz
thx
Conor: It has to be pictures for this contest.
im going to have a go but can it be building the model, then converting the model and then finally painting the model or does it have to be seperate. Also is their more chance of a win if you do an advanced? Im painting a night goblin and do you get more chance if you do the base as well?
finally can we demonstrate techniques like drybrushing in a short clip then a picture of what it should look like when ouve done the technique, a bit like you did with the chaos space marine in one of your videos.
I’m 12 thirteen in june and this is my first contest entry i’ve written my guide but it has 314 words and ten pictues the words are mostly the paint list is this okay.
George: I would split it up, as it will increase your chances of winning. There is a slightly higher chance of winning the grand prize if you do an advanced, but basics can win as well.
Joe: Yes, this is great! The minimum is written, but the more the better.
Also, since you are under 13 make sure that you have someone older submit the entry for you as we cannot legally allow you to enter the contest.
i’m up 4 the challenge. im 10 turning 11 in may.
I think ill do how to do a rusty space marine. who knows?
THANKS FOR ANWSERING
where do we find the things done for this contest
Can we do it on a terrain piece?
Only miniature painting for now. Perhaps in the future we’ll do a contest that’s terrain related.
But what if i refer to both categorys?what if i want to show how to make the whole miniature including detailed eyes and a bit of convertion?
hi. do you do a video about it and then do a document of writing( artical or is the artical in the vid. e.g. explaining each step.?
because ive made a video. if i send it to you can you tell me if ive done it right . thanx!!!
Hey Darius, You can do it as a whole tutorial or as two separate ones. The choice is up to you. Yes we had mentioned you can do as many as you like, but quality over quantity, right?
Hey Jason, You need to make a written article of your tutorial. If you’ve already made a video, by all means post it on YouTube if you want but you need to convert it into a written article in order to enter it in the contest.
is there another contest in which you are going to make a warhammer figure out of games workshop and/or non gamesworkshop parts cause that would be awesome!
Sounds interesting. A good idea for a contest.
if there are going to be a terrain making contest im in i have a awesomely wild idea!
okay people, i’m excited to see your tutorials! you see i’m new to warhammer, so i’d love to get some tips!
When emailing the tutorial should I attach it or just copy and paste it? And can I post links? I will be using lots of pictures in my tutorial.
You can either attach it or copy and paste it, it is up to you.
However, the pictures need to be attached individually or together in a zip file.
if you are unabull to put very thing i a zip file and I am new to the tutorial thing.
If a person wins or gets a prize will you email them back to get it all set up? Or do we need to give our account name etc?
If you’re not sure how to make zip files then you can attach the photos individually in your email. And we will email the winners telling them what info they need to provide in order to claim their prizes.
where do i put in a video?
