Alright, we finished the first round of our campaign last night, so I want to post a report of what happened here.
You can see the original post with the new events here.
After seeing who showed up we made the following eight teams:
Robert - Imperial
Matthew - Tyranid
Mike - Necrons
Justin - Dark Edlar
Wes - Chaos (Nurgle)
Spencer - Tau
Joe - Eldar
Dave - Chaos
EVENTS PHASE
Since everybody had the same size empire (one tile plus one city) we rolled to see who would choose events first.
Here is what everybody chose:
Robert - Land Grab
Matthew - All or Nothing
Mike - Gold Rush (rolled 7 and received 70 gold)
Justin - Scouts
Wes - Drop Pods
Spencer - Scheduled Orbital Bombardment
Joe - none (showed up late)
Dave - none (Caleb played for him as he couldn’t make it)
REVENUE PHASE:
No revenue was generated as nobody has any mines.
CHALLENGE PHASE:
Once again we rolled to see who would choose to challenge whom first. Here are the challenges that were issued:
Robert vs Matthew (Imperial vs Tyranid)
Mike vs Wes (Necrons vs Nurgle)
Justin vs Spencer (Dark Eldar vs Tau)
Joe vs Dave (Eldar vs Chaos)
BATTLE PHASE:
And here are the results of the battles:
Matthew - Minor Victory - 3 points + 2 points for All or Nothing
Robert - Loss - 1 point
Wes - Minor Victory - 3 points
Mike - Loss - 1 point
Justin - Draw - 2 points
Spencer - Draw - 2 points
Joe - Major Victory - 4 points
Dave - Loss - 1 point
BUILD AND CONQUER PHASE:
Matthew - expanded two tiles and built a mine
Robert - expanded one tile (thanks to Land Grab)
Wes - expanded to a mountain tile (used Drop Pods to go across the map)
Mike - raid - added 70 gold
Justin - two raids - added 140 gold
Spencer - expanded by one tile
Joe - expanded two tiles
Dave - raid - added 40 gold
END RESULTS (ordered by largest empire to smallest empire):
Matthew (4) - no gold
Joe (4) - no gold
Robert (3) - no gold
Wes (3) - no gold
Spencer (3) - no gold
Mike (2) - 140 gold
Justin (2) - 140 gold
Dave (2) - 40 gold
INTERESTING SIDE NOTES:
-The Scheduled Orbital Bombardment didn’t do much for Spencer this round as it basically missed anything important.
-I found that playing a Nidzilla army against an Imperial player isn’t that fun as I am used to enjoying watching my guys die in large numbers and then still make it to the enemy, whereas with this army I just didn’t die.
Any other interesting points should be added as comments by our players!

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackMike’s Interesting Note: “Feel No Pain” is MUCH more annoying than “We’ll Be Back”
Justin’s note: When facing Tau, don’t even try to move
I offer this recomendation to the nidzilla method, going for a hybrid.
At 1750 a nidzilla would be what.. 8 monsterous creatures?
Less is more. Go Hybrid, in this case 5.
Tactics with this list is that all the winged units on the first turn fly up and unload. Yes they will die off but that first turn punch will pay off later. The ground based HT move forward with the Zonethropes and the cracked out rippers taking the lead with leaping.
Your Elite Warriors go for the center.
Lictors always drop in danger close to other units, at the very edge of the terraign piece. Try it, you’ll like it.
Good Hunting!
(this method will drasticly change in 5th ed however, swarms cannot take objectives)
